Not stayed there, but driven past it a few times, so cannot comment on what it's like to stay on it. Think it is right in the heart of St Jean area and I am assuming you know what that is like as you are wanting to stay there...?
We stayed here a couple of years ago, the pool was freezing and it was August. It has a big playground/field and most of the pitches are in almost complete shade under trees from what I remember. All the pitches were hedged.
We stayed at Les Amieux(sp) in St Jean de Mont, the facilities were not top notch, it was a hold your nose job when you went into the loo. I had to really grit my teeth to not let it spoil our holiday. It's a very busy area with regular queues just to get to the supermarket. Jard sur Mer was a much quieter area of the Vendee and the camp site was great, lovely and clean.

20 mins drive south of SJDM is a lot nicer place and a lot calmer, in my opinion. St Gilles, round about there all a lot more 'french'. SJDM can be a bit busy and a bitof a little England at peak times, but each to their own... And if there is something up in SJDM that you want to go to it's an easy drive.
St Jean is always busy but if you go too far south of St jean the beaches become very stony for a while. Our friendsc ame up to St Jean this year from Bretignolles because the beaches were better. Went past La Yole and it looked busy last year but isnt it in the pine forest in st Jean? We have stayed at Les Amiaux for last 3 years with no toilet smell though my wife said the toilet block nearest the shop wasnt as good as ours! Maybe this was yours SW307. Kids love the pools and spacious pitches - just outside of St jean so you can avoid the traffic and good facilities for the price.

The beaches there were absolutely fantastic - we would return for those - but the road outside the campsite into Jean de Monts was nose to tail all day long, so even popping to the supermarket took forever.
We stayed at Les Amiaux in 2006 and would have to be paid to return to that particular site. The toilets were absolutely disgusting, pool area was run down and freezing.
Pitches where we were (in a tent with Canvas) were manky - sandy, but with more fag ends than sand on them! They were also very close to a 10ft high breeze block wall infront of the access for lorries etc to sites down that coast - so heavy traffic from 5am and cars going up and down all night - NICE!
That being said the 'other' side of the site (the side with the indoor pool) was grassy and appeared pleasant and the toilet blocks looked better. This is closer to the 'main' road, but I think the noise might be less intrusive because it was constantly moving slow traffic rather than cars/lorries zooming past.
I would be tempted to go slightly north towards nourmoutier - it seemed quieter and the town was more pleasant - can't remember what it was called though, but my daughter and I cycled there along a fantastic cycle route.
If you like Blackpool (and many people do) then you will like Jean de Monts, if you like peaceful quaint French places then you'll hate it.
God yes I'd forgetton about the state of the pools! Freezing cold and the four lane waterslide pool was filthy. We complained on our return. The stench in the toilet block near us was awful, they had an open hole near the toilet that was the cause I think. The traffic was terrible all day long, but worse if the weather was bad and people were trying to go out for the day. We wouldn't return to this site or area.
