THe lead is ok for Holland & Belguim the campsites have the same blue/white socket as the UK. In France you may need an adaptor to an ordinary continental plug--you can buy these at any UK caravan shop-just ask for a 'French adaptor' its just a blue/white socket connected by a short cable to a French plug-

I might add without trying to confuse you-there can be reverse polarity issues on the Continent. With modern electrical equipment it dosent matter but with a 1979 vehicle it might-I suggest you get the electrics checked to make sure it has double pole switches--if you have a handbook for the caravan part of your vehicle it should tell you.

Bill's approach is best.

I would always travel with a polarity tester - pretty much any caravan dealers will sell them. Don't ever assume cos Mr next door says its OK that it is, check for yourself!

The 2nd photo on "Photos Two" is bugging me. Is it on the Old Military Road on the way to The Haugh of Urr?

It depends on whether the French site has the older domestic type of site socket (ie two pins and an earth socket on the plug you put in)

OR if it has the newer and increasingly more common Euro blue type of socket.

SO what you need is one adaptor to cover the first situation that converts the old type French socket to the newer Euro blue socket and thus your existing van lead.

If when you plug in the polarity tester in the van etc you have reversed polarity you then put in your reversed lead (clearly marked) which has a blue Euro plug at one end and a blue Euro socket at the other

When confronted by the Euro socket on the site electrics follow  the same  procedure but without the first adaptor.!!

A reverse polarity adapter is simply a short lead with the blue Euro plug on one end and a a blue Euro socket on the other ed with the live and neutral reversed at one end

You can make one up by chopping 2 ft of cable off a hook up lead and replacing the plug .You then put a blue socket on the end of the short lead with the live and neutral reversed

If you are going on the CC rally at Garangeore then the rally steward Keith will help you.

We had a walk round the site in June and it is very nice with a pleasant manager and staff

Not quite Mountain Runner, though I'm pretty impressed you even attempted a guess!

It's actually on Dunuir Road (the road that goes past the High School) about a mile out of town, and about half a mile from the junction with the B795.  That's the road goes from the A75 pretty nearly tp Crossmichael (ish!)

Once again, v impressed you got so close!
