Hi All,

We did our first trip to France this year and ended up going to La Baule, the climate was superb but the site was pretty average, I have to say the french folk need a bit of encouragement in the friendliness stakes!!!.

We want to go that extra mile to the Vendee and in particular to La Rochelle or surrounding area but not too sure which camp site, can you help?

With 3 kids over 14, we don't mind a bit of noise, with a a decent water park it needs to be near a good beach if possible. Either that or near a golf course for me!

Thanks a lot

Hi Keith,

We stayed here http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=6678 2 years ago, it is a lively site with a good water park, I beleive they where upgrading it for 2007. Beaches at Le rocher are superb and La Rochelle is an easy drive around 40 miles great day out.

I have left a reveiw might seem a bit negative but it was just too lively for our young family.

The golf course in St-Jean-de-Monts looks nice.
Le Clarys Plage was a nice site, good beaches next to it. Decent pool complex and a water park down the road. St-Jean-de-Monts is fifteen minutes away in the car.

If youare prepared to travel a bit further Messenges is a lively campsite with good waterpark and direct access to the Atlantic beach which is great for surfing, lods to do you can walk into the town and good cycle tracks all around.

Hi dart18

Can you provide a website for Messanges? We're looking to go further South this year and the site you mention sounds promising
