Have been told that eurotunnel will check to See that we have only got 80% full gas, can anyone tell me if this has happened to them.

Eurotunnel check to see that your gas is turn off i.e. a man sits inside an office and asked you thought the window then give you a sticker to put on your mirror.  This is what happen to us when we travelled in September.

the man in the office comes out and asks if your gas bottles are turned off .

i always leave mine on as we fill a flack of hot water to make a drink on tunnel.

this we bole up in car park wile waiting for time to board.

i turn of gas in front of checker and they are always satisfied with that  never check to see  if 80 % full

I think I am right in saying that gas bottles are only ever filled to 80% of their liquid capacity to allow room for the liquid to convert to gas. The problem might occur with self refillables being over filled. But as others had said all they do at the terminals on either side of the channel is to check that the gas is turned off. For the first time this year they asked me to turn off the master valve on the built in regulator system.

We have a gas tank fitted to our motorhome for domestic use, it has a gauge which shows a green LED for each quarter of the tank filled eg 3 lights = 3/4 full. We are going to Spain in Jan 08, crossing  on the shuttle, and wondered how we went on. We have a valve fitted in the gas bottle locker to turn the tank off. and theres one on the tank which is under the vehicle. they would have to crawl underneath to check that one .
