http://www.camping-meursault.com/

We've stopped over here a couple of times on the way down. Quiet site - not much to do for teens but does have a pool and ours didn't mind it for an overnight stay. the area is really beautiful and well worth a visit.

Last summer we stopped at  http://www.mediterranee-plage.com/camping-mediterranee-plage.html Our pitch was 2 mins from the beach. Nice site near Portiagnes Plage. Plenty to do on site for teens but the pitches were far enough away from the bar etc so as not to be disturbed by any noise.

Hi Dawn4. Have a look here... www.les-sablons.com The site is on the beach. Loads to do for the kids and the best camp shops you will ever see. I'd be looking to stop overnight around Clermond- Ferrand.

Hi Dawn

The Languedoc region is lovely but a word of warning - it gets crazy busy along the coast in the summer.  Getting anywhere by car is a nightmare.  When you are choosing a site it is best to choose one that it within walking distance to all the amenities you want eg beach, town, restaurants etc or you may spend half your time in the car or looking for somewhere to park!

Portiragnes is not as busy as the area around Sete which is a nightmare in August. The only prob we found was trying to get back fron the hypermarche around 5/6 ish. It was very busy. Found it best to go around midday when most people were eating and relaxing!

We allow two days driving to get there as we only have one driver and need to take sensible breaks. Last year we did two overnight stops on the way down and enjoyed taking our time. Mind you we went for the best part of three weeks so weren't too worried about the travelling time eating into our 'holiday'.

Vias Plage has excellent beaches and plenty of bars/restaurants is 10 mins walk from Vias which has an Intermarche supermarket. Haven't been in high season but I believe it gets VERY busy.

have stayed at Club Farret and Le Napoleon both of which were excellent.

We have stayed at Club Farret  in Vias Plage(4 times), it is a yelloh village and I would recommend it to anyone with kids. they have a beach club and are directly on the beach with only a 5 minuite walk to the town. Last year it was 50 years old and the bar area has been completely renovated. We visited in August from the 18th onwards and the only day we had problems with traffic was the first Monday (that was in Beziers). we visited carcassonne and sete and traffic was fine both times.

Last year we stayed in one of the site owned statics so stopped in a novotel in Orleans on the way down, I don't know of any sites in this area other than a yelloh one which has a minimum stay during August.

Could you give me an idea of how large the pitches were? I am always on the look out for new sites with direct access to the Med.

Thanks

David

Hi David,

just found the old email with the pitch dimensions. Ours was 14m x 5m20.. It seemed fairly typical. It was plenty long enough for us but we would have liked a slightly wider pitch. However the location made up for this.
