another question, i have just been reading about reversal polar tests (something to do with electrics!!) does anyone know if we need them at this site?

I'd consider it highly unlikely that you would need these at a big commercial site like this. Reverse polarity tends to only be a problem with much older, smaller sites, as a general rule.

However your EHU unit SHOULD* have both a circuit breaker and reverse polarity checker built in that will light up if there is a problem.

We always carry a small lead, a piece of cable with the blue plugs at each end, with the wires reversed inside. My husband who is not hugely techy managed to do it. It is clearly marked (black leccy tape wound along the entire length and a label) so that should we encounter a problem we can just plug this in and then we don't have to worry.

Obviously if your little warning light goes on, you then plug in your EHU with the extra lead between the EHU point and your EHU unit. Light goes off, you know it was a reverse polarity issue. Light stays, then unplug it all and seek further help!

Anyway, I'm almost 100% certain you'll be fine at La Gar.

Amanda x

*If you bought a proper one and not some noddy DIY jobby from Ebay, not a great idea when it's something that is such a safety issue!

We have been to La Garangeoire twice and it is an excellent site. The biggest and really only problem is that you are not guaranteed the weather. Sometimes it can be hot but with a nice breeze and as we found out this year , it can rain horizontally. It is a good area and the site has plenty to do for kids.

The EHU are the same blue ones as in this country .

We are not going back again but that is not to say we didnt enjoy it. We would recommend it . I cant believe people say it is noisy....I suppose it depends what you are comparing it with. You will enjoy it and if you get the weather it is brilliant.

PS . You must go to le Puy du Fou, which is a great day out. Wouldn't bother with Futuroscope which we all found a bit bizzare

As we will be staying for 10 days, anyone got any good placews to go for day trips, I'm talking zoo, wildlife park, water parks etc. Don't really want to stay on the site for the whole period.

Would definately agree re Puy Du Fou, but I'd say to take 2 days there. We went for one day and managed (with lots of military scale planning) to see all 5 main shows, but didn't have any time to look around the other areas properly and it was all a HUGE rush. 2 days would be relaxed and much much nicer.

Futuroscope, hmmm. We went there this Summer and TBH it was just about okay. We had free tickets to get in courtesy of Mr Tesco so we didn't think it was too bad, however if we had paid £100 to get in, which is what it would have been we'd have been really hacked off. Definately not somewhere to go if you have small children. It's basically lots and lots of IMax/3D screens showing different films and to be honest not a lot else.

Vallee Des Singes near Poitiers,

http://www.la-vallee-des-singes.fr/UK/index.html  definately go there! Fabby monkey zoo, the monkeys are all on individual islands and you can go onto some of the islands and just walk around with the smaller monkeys, kids and adults alike all loved it. Great staff and a nice couple of cafes, very reasonably priced. Do go on a fine day though as it is all outdoors and if it rains the monkeys all take to the trees and you won't see them.
