Hi

Can anyone suggest  a good campsite in the Cote d azor region of France, last year we decided to ditch the middle man and book everything ourselves, Ferry was good, journey and stop overs were excellent and the main site was very good, Domain de la bergerie near Frejus , all very clean tidy and efficent, the only problem we encountered was that the clinetelle were 99% french, again not a problem  for us as My wife speaks french, and i try very hard but my Sons found it hard to mix with the fench Kids, so im looking for  a site this year that i can book independently, which has facilities for a very active 9 year old and  a fun loving 5 year old, obviously pool etc in neccesary, around the 400 pich site would be ideal.   Any idea's please drop me a reply, Many thanks

 Symon

Not my scene - but if you want the kids to get involved you could try going with the likes of Eurocamp - they have an independent camping option but you should still get the option for joining in with the activities for children.
Saves them the initial effort of mixing.

Just get the Eurocamp brochure and see which sites they're offering, and which sites you like the look of - and then book yourself direct with the site.  These are the sites they are offering in/around the Cote d'Azur (the links don't work).
  • Castellane  Camp du Verdon
  • Canadel Pachacaïd
  • St Aygulf L'Etoile d'Argens
  • Fréjus La Baume
  • St Raphaël Esterel
  • Fréjus Holiday Green
  • Roquebrune-sur-Argens Des Pêcheurs
  • I would think you'll find what you're looking for at all these sites.  Some have already been highly recommended on here, but it's so long since my children were so small I wouldn't like to recommend anything now.  We have stayed at Esteral (liked it very much), Camp du Verdon (similar, but inland and not really Cote d'Azur), and Des Pecheurs (shady).

We have stayed at Selection Camping twice, albeit out of season. a good mix of people when we were there ( Germans, Dutch and Brits). It's a good family run site, near to a lovely safe beach. It has a pool and play area, restaurant etc . Friends who joined us are planning on going back next year, as are we. It's near to Cavalaire. Have a look at www.selectioncamping.com

    Hi Pete and Jan

Had a look at the website and the only two photos they have of pitches seem to show them as rather small. Is this typical?

The photos don't do it justice. Friends had a 520 'van, with no problem with awning, car and van pitched. One guy showed up with a twin axle outfit larger in lengh than a double decker bus and was sited across two pitches and charged for one (out of season).

And we may see you - we planned to go back to Camp du Verdon this year, but car problems prevented it!   It's on the cards for May/June next year.  Enjoy the site - and Castellane is lovely.  Do climb up to the church on the rock, and persuade your 'customers' to do the same.

    Hi

We were in Frejus during the summer and also had the fantastic experience of Lac Du Verdon and we intend to return in the future. We have 10 and 8 year old kids (one f each) and stayed very happily at Pins Parasol just outside Frejus.  Definaltey recomend it as almost perfection.

We stayed at Camp du Verdon for 2 weeks in August this year. I found the site incredible busy with a poor pool facility (no sunbeds and lack of space around the pool area). Castellane and the surround area is excellent though and very pretty with lots to do, in Castellane you'll find lots of companies doing Rafting, Canyoning, Cano-raft among others, also check out Lake Castellane. But really the whole region is fantastic with lost to do and see + the food is excellent too. I was just a little disappointed with the campsite.

    Roll on 2008 summer.
