Still going again, worst weather we have had in fifteen years this year, but we have booked again for next year, back to the Vendee for four weeks in June.
Go for it, it still beats the UK no matter what the weather,

No, but after a rather damp and cool time on central France, we're heading further south on the autoroute do soleil!

We're all booked for next year. Last year wasn't as bad as 2002. We bought a paper then and discovered it was raining from Moscow to Faro ... so much for following the sun!
Most of the other campers packed up and went home but we'd have had to pay extra for the ferry so we stayed. People were very nice indeed to the tourists that did stay on. We were near Bordeaux & could still swim in the sea (the rain doesn't matter, you're going to get wet anyway;) Might have been different if we were as far north as Brittany or the Vendée though!

Last year in France from mid aug to early sept we saw less rainy days than usual - there was a lot of rain about but it was always where we weren't.
Having said that the rivers were fast and cool but we had a fab time and are looking forward to similar again.

No, it hasn't. The best holiday that I've ever had and it was in Southern Brittany.

Nope - have the ferry booked but not the campsite yet.
We had gale forces at La Rive this year and found there wasn't much to do in bad weather - although it was fantastic when it was nice, so the only thing we are changing is to try to find somewhere with a few more 'weatherproof' attractions in the area.

The French dont really do weatherproof attractions, they just complain when the weather is bad--it makes me smile the way theres little difference between seaside towns on the north coast or 700 miles south on the Med, everything is all outside--

We had the firdt few days wet, end of August, we headed to verdun as there were things to see and do. The weather got better so we stayed!
Planning to go to France next year -not sure when yet .
We are also considering a cruise or a return visit to Canada, possibly hiring a campervan there.

Made me more determined to have a good time next year.
We will be going away even more to make up for the time we had to stay indoors or in the van this year.

Certainly has.
Ditched the tent and ordered a caravan!

We did likewise on our return in June, had wall to wall rain, and thought oh no not more soggy canvas and are now owners of a Sterling Windward.

It hasn't put us off going to France but the 2 freezing cold soggy wet weeks we had in the Loire in July has made us decide to head further south this year.

Bad Weather???
We spent nearly 12 weeks in the South West of France and apart from a handful of odd days when it was overcast and one 5 day spell of showers (it was still 23 degrees) we certainly had a good summer. If you had had the weather we had from June to September in France and had transported it to the UK you would have thought it was a great UK summer. Plenty of days in high 20's, a couple of weeks hovering around low 30's but as an average I would say 25-28 degrees was pretty good.
Put it this way, we left the Uk at the end of June and I didn't wear trousers again until middle of September (when we returned)...
How many of us did that in the UK??
We're back to Charente region again 2008 but unfortunately next year it will only be for 3 weeks and not 3 months but I'm sure we will be satisfied with the weather...
It was said to be the worst summer in France for the past 10 years but as I said, if we had that summer in the UK for 2007 everybody would have been saying what a great summer it was...
