hi, just wondering if many of you use motels for overnight stops.  we have used campsites for the last 2 years but find it hard work pitching the tent for 1 night and packing up for early starts.  would love to no of cheap motels with secure parking for a family of 4.  also does anyone know if you have to arrive by a certain time and do you need to pre book in high season or do you take a chance and turn up?

hi, thanks for your replies, i will look into all of the mentioned.  we are with the caravan and camping club which will book hotels along side the campsite but we dont want to be tied down to stopping at a pre booked hotel especially if we feel ok to drive for longer.

You can book BB Hotels online and they can be cancelled on the day, you would need to check the time, but earlier in the year it was 7pm. I cancelled a hotel at 5pm on the day of reservation and I wasn't charged.

The majority of BB Hotels have a locked carpark. They sometimes surround the hotel, so you can park your car near to your room.

As stated previously, if you need a 4 person room, they do go fast, so consider booking & cancelling at a later date if not required.

Other chains in France, Premiere Classe, Accor, Ibis, Campanile all worth a try.
