Cheers Graham we had actually thought about that one also, we are also thinking of camping oase. As long as campsite is clean and nice with plenty to do in area and a pool for my daughter. So any more ideas are welcome.

Gerry,

Just up the valley from Staufen and Camping Belchenblick (which is excellent) is Camping Munstertal, which is also excellent. We've stayed at both in the past.

Best of luck

Graham

I have only stayed at Belchenblick but had heard people talk about Camping Munstertal. Is it next to the railway as I think we may have walked up past it. Given that you have stayed on both what would you say were the main differences. I just wonder if it is run differently to Belchenblick, ie long lunch time closure, allocated pitches and only accepting cash to pose just a few questions!!!

Hi,

We stayed at Landal Warsberg last year for 10 nights in June. We were only going for 5 but stayed because it is superb.

Clean, Friendly, Organised, Laidback, very Dutch orientated as Landal is a Dutch company.

Saarburg is great and very unusual, any questions let me know.

I can definately reccomend this site. We normally go to France but decided on Germany last year. The campsite is great, and the kids loved the ski-lift that takes you down to the town - and theres a Lidl at the bottom. Also try the toboggan ride - brilliant fun. A couple of times we walked down, it's not as far as you think because there's a shortcut through the vineyards.

The town is superb - try the bars/restaurants by the river/waterfall. There's also a Chinese restaurant (beside the Tourist info) which does daytime "all you can eat" buffets for about 6 euro.

There's a municipal pool in town - fantastic! Olympic size outdoor and kids pool with slides, all surrounded by grassed areas. Theres a supermarket outside to stock up on beers.

Luxembourg is about 30-40mins away for a daytrip. It's also worthwhile trying to track down the Maginot line.

Brilliant holiday - if you get the weather!

I have a question about the campsite Landal Warsberg as it is so highly recommended. Do you think one can stay there for just one or two nights with a tent? And does one have to book? I could only find references to booking a number of days. Just fancied turning up.   We tend to tour rather than stay for any length of time. Anyone know?

Thanks Latecamper

To Latecamper

Depends a lot on the time of year. the place is large, and out of high season i would guess you can do what you like,.I would risk it anytime with a "small" tent, bit different if you have a portable bungalow.

We found Landal to be a bit regimented on the booking front, but the on site staff were great.

To Latecamper

We did not book last year as we used the camping card scheme so we recieved a discount but we were unable to book.

The campsite is massive so unless it is a Dutch/German bank holiday or peak season turning up just for a couple of nights will be fine.
