I am thinking of going to the Vendee in July. I am looking for a site near the sea, with plenty to do for two 16 year old boys and two older teenagers. Can anyone recomend a site?

Thanks

Vendee coastal sites are very busy in July, tend to be smaller, more crowded. However, if you go about six or seven miles inland there are stacks with loadsa facilities and near-enough beaches. Think of areas near Les Sables D'Olonne, such as St Julien des Landes which has four top class campsites - La Garangeoire, La Foret, Les Pins Parasol, La Guyonniere. All have two pools, water sports, access to boating, fishing, water sports, on site discos, bars, activities, the lot. Plus, these sites are a lot safer than the coastal sites which in high season are more risky being close to main roads and are not so secure. I can give you more info if you like.

Le Bois Masson in St Jeans de Monts, full of teenagers!

Though personally I would go to Le Bois Dormant opposite and let the teens go over, but I'm not sure if they take tourers/tents.

We have stayed at Les Bitches near St Hilaire, which our two teenagers really enjoyed as they quickly got to know others and spent each evening at the bar. The site is ok, not really what we would choose, but as our two were happy we could go off on our bikes each day!

If your kiddies are happy you will enjoy your break, otherwise they can make your life hell. I speak from experience

Totally agree with Towball.  We've spent the past 5 years at Le Pin Parasol, heading further south this year.  We have friends who've spent a similar length of time at La Foret and many on UKCS speak very highly of La Garangoire.  10 mins drive from some lovely beaches - body boarding and rock pools a must.

Also agree with Towball - we are going back to La Foret in July as we had such a lovely holiday there this year, but any of the four sites in that area would be a good choice.

We went to La Guyonniere last year and would thoroughly recommend it. It seemed to have something to offer those of all ages.
