We are off on our first trip abroad with the new(ish) caravan, and of course want everything to be perfect. Has anyone stayed at Le Clarys Plage in the Vendee region? It looks rather nice and I have found some good reviews of it, but as we never book a camping holiday (tent or caravan) without seeing the reviews on UK campsite, we would be interested in your opinion. Many thanks.

Thank you Swanseajack. How do you find old postings by the way? Other than trawling through pages?

Hi bergoltcampers,
We have been going to the vendee for the past seven years, there are many very good sites, depending on what you are looking for, clarys plage is a very lively campsite with on site entertainment all through the summer season, there are also restaurants bars beaches 5mins walk from campsite so you dont have to use your car everytime you go out, excellent cycle tracks too,the resort of st jean de mont is nearby and les sables you would have to do in the car it about 40minutes from clarys, would reccomend booking not many touring pitches, hope this helps.

Hi,we went there in August 2005.We had a great time. There is a supermarket next to the site. You can even push your trolley loaded with wine back to your pitch.

The beach is a few hundred metres away but if you are lazy you can drive right to the seafront(free car park). The beach seems to stretch forever, but can be breezy.

The entertainment is good and you may be asked onstage to participate, all good fun.
