Hello all,

What a wonderful website and forum.  I have had a great time reading comments and gaining advice, thank you. 

I now ask you services again.  we are travelling to Northern Spain (possibly the east coast) and I am looking for campsite recommendations.

We are a family of 5, three children 8,6 and 2, we are looking for a peaceful site, (we don't need a disco for family entertainment)

A pool would be nice, near a beach would be good  - not essential, not too commercial,  clean, and not to expensive. We have travelled round France but this is our first foray into Spain, any additional advice would be welcomed too.

The website offered is very good and provides an excellent starting ponit.

We will be eading to spain in the summer, I know it is Jan. but half the pleasure is the planning! 

When camping in spain is it advisable to book? what are the opportuniteis if you just turn up?

El Delfin Verde at Torroella de Montgri is an ideal family site with two sides to it.

Part of it is noisy at night due to dancing, music, etc though it isn't outrageous and finishes at midnight, but if you pitch yourself nearer to the beach end you won't really notice the noise at all....... thats where we go.

It is a large site that does have virtually every thing you need and you can walk from the site directly onto a huge beach and the sea is warm, failing that you have a large pool/paddling pool area.

The area is roughly 60 miles after the French border.

We're thinking of heading for the north coast of northern Spain (2 adults 4 kids).  From what I've read/heard it does seem like it'd be a different experience, as Billy suggests. 

The plan so far is ferry to Santander, head for the French side of the Pyranees for a week and then head a little to the west of Santander for a week or two, by a beach (La Paz, Vidiago).  Fully equipped with rain coats for the green Spain bit (surely it can't be that rainy in August?!?!).  Taking the dog too (but not sure how dog friendly Spain and its beaches are).  Expecting it to be more off the beaten track, more traditional, scenic, less razamataz.  And hoping that that's what we'll all enjoy, kids too!?  Popping in to Cornwall for a few days on the return to stay with some native chums, and then back to the concrete!

Re booking, I'd guess it's best to book the ferry early, if not the campsite too?

We went to El Delphin last August it is a very nice site very clean and has everything you need.  We went in a tent and would never go again it was 40 degrees and too blooming hot, very bad storms and can be very windy.  Would go back in a Motorhome or Caravan but never in a tent.

It's a very long drive with kids our's our 11, 12, and 16 at the time.  We had an overnight stop in Clarmont Ferand.

Very nice place but the drive is long, the kids loved it and would go again.

I have been to Aquarius 15 times from 1977 to 1991. We went back to Spain in 2003 and 2006 - However Aquarius was booked both time - however, we did visit (stayed in the next door camp site). We had friends on the site who have visited every year since 1977 

This really is one of the best camp sites around - small, good shade in the old part of the site, direct access to the beach, one of Europes finest beaches. The area is a national park so no big development - only camping and fruit growing (the fruit from the farm shops is better than any I have ever tasted)

The last time I visited Aqarius did not have a pool - although you do not need one, the sea is fantastic. It is a quiet site, and excellent for kids
