Have decide on Sarlat for Main holiday in June. Last in that area in 2000. Am using Camping Cheques so am looking for advice on La Paradis site and La Moulin du Roch near Sarlat. I Like the sound of La Paradis but it says camping cheques aren't valid in June. This was last years book. I wonder if this was maybe a misprint as all other sites seem to take them till the end of June or early July. Anyway any advice will be appreciated on either site.

hi harry, just checked the 2008 Camping cheque book and Le Paradis accepts CC's 22/3 to 31/5 then 30/8 to 25/10 so your info is correct.

Le Paradis is a very popular site, - no doubt their 'low season' is shorter than most sites.  Le Moulin du Roch is a nice site, too.  You won't be disappointed if you choose to stay there.

Hi Harry

We went to Le paradis last summer and would find it hard to find fault we were there 2nd and 3rd week of july. When we arrived they gave us a pitch with tree in centre still big pitch but didnt like the look of it when i asked for change they played about on pc then offered me 3 others so found them helpful from the off.The site is very clean and has some lovely plants and flowers. We found it to be a mixture of Dutch and Brittsh in our cul-de-sac all dutch but again found them all to be very nice and always willing to share a beer. We like to cycle and you can do this as roads around site are very quite the village of siant verzee(spelling) is lovely and has a market on sundays with loads of brig a brag.If you come out of site and turn left about mile along is another lovely wee village we ate in resturant here and loved it .

The site resturant was very nice also and has a carry out service only fault i had with that is ordered pizza and it came with walnuts dont eat nuts.

If you would like any more info on it just let me know.

Gerry

Thanks for the replies. Looks like Moulin du Roch then.

Just a question on the route to Sarlat. Would it be better to come in from the North leaving autoroute at Brive la Gaillarde or go further south to Souillac and come in from the south. I have a very long outfit.

Hi

Have you considered Soleil Plage (just outside of Sarlat near Vitrac)? It was my first taste of French camping in 2005 and our family loved it. We were then in June, so the site wasn't packed but it always seems to win awards!

Cheers, Marcel

We stayed at Les Peneyrals last August (in the rain )

http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=7439

The people running the site couldn't have been more helpful.  We had a ride on the golf cart to check the pitch.  It wasn't the best but they were busy and offered to move us when another pitch became avalible.

Our continental adapter for the electric had been lost, so they lent us one.

The pools and resturant were very good and when we left after about 4 nights they gave us a bottle of wine!

Saralat, although busy, was a lovely town.  Great for shopping and very picturesque!

Recomended

Thanks for the other recommendations but they do not come under the camping cheque scheme.

I would come from the North. Shorter. Route is good. Via the South is a detour and not better or faster.
The roads in the area are good anyway, aprt from a very bumpy section on the righthand bank of the Vézère which is not nice for vans and campers. However that's not on your route to Sarlat.
I stayed in Montignac (Vézère) and in St Julien de Lampon (site on the Dordogne river).
