yes I posted a similar question and got very little response. It seems to get confused with the one further north in the Vendee

http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/chatter/display_topic_threads.asp?ForumID=7&TopicID=132999&get=last#2076702

I have decided against going there after looking on google maps and noticing that the TGV runs right alongside the campsite. However, the slides look amazing

We went there for 2 weeks last year. Clean site, mainly French. The entertainment went on quite late for us, so stay away from the main pool area. There is a railway line close to the site so stay on the opposite side of the site. We had a great holiday, La Rochelle is well worth a visit or two. Some fine resturants and plenty to see.

Sean o broin,

Hope your trip went well, this is one of the sights we are looking at for next year. What did you think of it? Was the train line a problem?

Thanks Lis4b

Hi Lis4b

We were at this site twice this year.Mid June and first week in|Aug.The pitches are for the most part quite big with plenty of room for all the crap we have when were on TOUR.Pitch no.220,221 82,84,55,57,59 were about the best .The touring pitches are in ampngst mobile homes, while some people dislike this we didnt mind as we were opposite a moble that was owned bu a french man who was like DON CORLEONE...always had something going on or somebody visiting him,Got him p*ssed on Irish whiskey on one night.

The pool complex(thts what it was)is brill. One huge pool with 3 or 4 different parts including 6 slides .One outdoor pool that was heated and it had a lazy river. This pool also has 8/9 lie down jacussies built into it.Never seen this before. There is also a heaterd kiddie pool and an indoor VERY heated pool with a retractadle roof. Also a small gym with a sunken jacussie.HOW MUCH WATER DO YOU NEED!!!!!!!

I just fed the kids in the morning and they were gone til lunch and again in the afternoon. There is also an astro turf/green carpet football/basket ball area.Cant tell you about the bar area as I didnt use it...too mean to buy drink WINE CHEAPER!!!!

The take away was OK but again I only used it once as I prefer to cook. With regard to the train the last train is at 23.00 and the first at 07.00 but they still wouldnt bother you.

The site is about 3 mins from a huge Carfour with a garage and all that goes with it.It is about 10 mins drive to La Rochelle or 30 mins bike ride. There is a cool water taxi from Port De Minimes to the centre of La Rochelle so you dont have any traffic or parking worries all for €1.75 e/w.

All in all I thought this was a fab site and cheap too.We are going to return next year for the full 5 weeks trip and not bother to tour around.

Hop this helps you ......or are you even more confused !!!!!!!!!!!

Regards

JB

Hi JB

Thanks so much for takin the time to reply. It's always a worry picking a site. Sounds like you and yours have a similar holiday to my lot and you have answered all my questions.

When you say these pitches are better, better in what way? size location etc. I like to be close ish to the pool play area etc but not that close that I can hear what the kids are saying (if you get what I mean) I like some shade but don't want to be covered by trees.

I will let you know when we have booked and perhaps if you are there at the same time we can say hi.

Thanks again

Lisa

Hi Lisa

I walked around the site with a site map and picked these pitches because of their size ond shade. No matter where you are on this site you are not far away from the pool because there are path-ways between the roads.

Meant to say that pool opens at 10.00 till 21.00 and on Sat nights it opened again at 22.00 until at 01.00 with all the floodlights and pool lights on......great fun.

The beach is at 5 mins walk away but im not a beach person.Dont know if you have been in that area before but there is lots to do around La Rochelle.

Next year will leave the van on site and go to Puy Du Fou for 2 days and stay in a hotel. We did that this year from Norbonne and stayed in Barcelona and it worked v well.(Nice to sleep in something you dont have to make up every night, and shower in something you dont have to q for )

If you need any info just holler

Regards

JB

Hi JB

I went to Royan 25 years ago with my parents.

In 2005 we tried pre erected tent in North Brittany, loved the camp etc but weather a bit hit and miss.

This year towed to the Loire and a few days in Paris. Again great site, but hours from anywhere which was no good for day trips on rainy day.

So decided to travel a little further to the coast. Kids love body boarding and I've got fantastic memories from when I was a kid. Plenty of things to do within an hours drive for the wet days.

Not fussed about evening entertainment, enjoy BBQ and a few drinks with friends, but the kids go off to games room and sometimes watch the show's. (3 boys 17, 14 and 9).

We were planning on using tesco vouchers for the tunnel but friends are coming with us this year and they wanted to sail. When I checked out the price for them (car caravan & 4 passengers £122.00 return with Norfolk line) we decided to use the voucher for something else and sail with our friends.

Thanks for all your help,

Lisa
