We are thinking of spending next winter in Almeria because of the sun. I am disabled (mobility) and my husband has just had a heart attack.Does anyone know of a site in that area? We went there in summer of 1987 and loved it. We like it quiet but near enough to shops for food etc.
Thanks.

Have you tried the Camping Cheque website (www.campingcheque.co.uk). There are several sites in that area which are open all winter, and accept Camping Cheques (cost per night £10.30) but have special offers, offering 30 nights for 19 cheques. The three nearest to Almeria all have facilities for disabled people. If you have a look at the website, select 'Our campsites' then the map of Spain. Each dot is a campsite accepting Camping Cheques, and a click on the dot will then bring up a page with site facilities and some pictures.
We are also thinking of going to Spain for next winter, we have been thinking of Sitges near Barcelona, camping cheques are offering 30 nights for 60, the site is Villanova Park, the facilities look very good.
We are at this moment on Vilanova Park and can say that the facilities are very good, however, we are in a motorhome and it is a bit restrictive as it is too far to walk anywhere. The town and beach is around 2 miles away.so if you are staying for a long time, as many do, then you need transport. As you appear to have a car & caravan then you will not have a problem.
We are only hear for 7 days as we are moving around to see which site suits us best, we move to another 3 sites before going home at the end of March.

We have stayed at Vilanova in the past and although the facilities are excellent bear in mind that to get the milder winters guaranteed you really need to go further South to Costa Blanca . Costa Calida or the Costa del Sol.
We used camping cheques for our first couple of winters but now live over here permanently.
We are only in Spain for 6 weeks until the end of March, all I can say is that at the moment we are around 30 miles south of Valencia and it has been around 70 deg. today.
We will certainly try for a longer time next year.
