Booked a crossing with Brittany Ferries in November 2007. The total price was £415.00 of which we have paid a £25 deposit. Just been on to their website and for exactly the same crossings that we booked in November they are now quoting a total cost of £369. Do you think it is worth querying this? I appreciate it that if it was the other way round, i.e dearer now than in November I would just keep quiet.

Two years ago the same thing happened to me on a booking with the CC. I asked about the decrease and they honoured it. It was not a lot of difference, not like yours, but it was the principal.
Just checked ours and its cheaper by £15. Worries me that nearer the time it could be cheaper again will definitely be keeping a check on that and if it goes less I will be asking them to honour that price what a bloody cheek
Have just tried again on website and when I put in our booking reference number it said it did not recognise it. I tried again and still no joy. A number came up to ring which I did. I gave person I spoke to reference number and she said it was showing as being locked but this was because I had just put it in on the net and it takes around 15 minutes to unlock so she suggested ringing again tomorrow. I then mentioned the discrepancy in price and she was surprised as she said prices usually went up the nearer you get to travel time. The only suggestion she came up with was to cancel existing booking and rebook on the price I was offered today but would lose our £25 deposit but this would still mean we saved money. I don't know what to do. Have been travelling with Brittany Ferries every year since 2002.
Whay annoys me over this scenario is the fact that the ferry companies entice us to book early to gain big discounts. If that's the case then how come as the ferry bookings fill up the price comes down. Probably because the ferry isn't filling up so now they start dangling another carrot. Don't speak to the person on the phone ask to speak to a supervisor.

I have gone into cheap4ferries and got it cheaper again to £499 which would have been a £75 saving but now only £50 as we lose the £25 deposit. Due to the fact that the price is cheaper on the system now by £15 I was wondering about ringing them and seeing if they would match cheap4ferries but I very much doubt it. So will probably book the cheaper one as £50 is better than nothing.
Hi - I checked my booking made in September and also shows the same route £71 cheaper. Copied in their reply below
Good morning, Thank you for your email. Our prices can go up as well as down due to the state of the market place and how busy our bookings are for a particular sailing. We will not reduce your fare to the new price, however you can cancel your booking with, a loss of £25.00, and re-book at the new rate. Please advise if you wish us to cancel your current booking. egards,Brittany FerriesPassenger Services
The same thing just happened to me. I rang to check that they did have our booking and mentioned price and was told exactly same, i.e cancel booking and lose £25 and then rebook at lower price. No possiblity of reducing the cost of our booking. I agree this is ridulous but I suppose Brittany Ferries have the monopoly on the Western Channel routes. Yet when I recently queried car insurance and building and contents renewal quotes was immediately offered reductions.
Have you tried the Caravan Club? They often do good deals, which may mean it's worth the palaver of cancelling one booking, losing the £25 and booking another. I've just tried for our August crossing, and got a quote of £290 (Portsmouth/Caen return, car and caravan). Just a thought!

We got same message from Brittany Ferries, try cheap4ferries also as they quoted same route as mine £50 cheaper. Would have been £75 but have to lose my deposit. Never thought of trying the CC club might do that as well.
