Oh great, I have to go to barcelona for a week... My parents have really bad ideas about whats a fun holiday... charvy tourists and immigrants trying to sell me fake watches/sunglasses.

Anyway, I can probabally get up to Garrotxa/that kind of area for a few hours one day, but theres still a week; Mt Tibadabo is an obvious on, anywhere else nearby anyone can recomend?

The beach, a boat trip perhaps up the coast to Tossa de Mar which is better than it sounds, Sagrada Familia, the old quarter, Poble Espagnols, the museum, the food market, the zoo, the Picasso museum, Monjuic, the Art Museum, train down to the Roman remains in Tarragona, bus trip up to Montserrat, the football stadium, and much, much more.

What!!!

Chavvy Barcelona!!!!! You've obviously read the wrong info, or never been.

Go get some culture........ Its the birthplace of Gaudi, get on the Bus Turista and visit Parc Guell, The Sagrida Familia, and La Pedrera. or visit the Expo site, the Olympic village or the Neucamp Stadium (home of FC Barcelona).

Walk the pier and sample the many different flavours of ice cream, or just marvel at the buildings in the Gothic quarter.

We've been several times and have only seen a fraction of it, ok there are some "kiss me quick" bits but they are limited to the Ramblas area.

How I wish my parent had, had the good taste to take me to Barcelona, all we managed was Primrose Valley when I was a kid.

HTH

Paul

Yeah, youre talking to a hiker/scrambler/ avid Ice hockey fan... art is unbelivably pointless, food market - whats wrong with a double cheeseburger... I like it, beach - youre kidding right XD... I dont want to die of boredom football is the most irritating thing in the world... google Richard Zednik... THEN youll know what a REAL sports injury is... all pro footballers are wusses! And I live in Durham, what do I need with MORE falling down buildings that some pilock built several hundred years ago.

Montserrat looks good though...

And how much are they wasting on this hoilday... I happen to like the lakes, and Scotland...

Haha, now you know what Im like...

WOW!!!  Truly put in place!!!  However, Barcelona is smack in the middle of some lovely walking country - get your boots on and walk away from the city in any direction except the sea, and you'll find countryside even more interesting than Scotland. 271

Try this website: http://www.sherpa-walking-holidays.co.uk/tours/inntoinn/jbmrc.asp or walk along the coast to the north of Barcelona and you'll find some of the best sea views around.

The football stadium is also home to the Barcelona ice hockey team!
