We are planning a trip to the Black Forest - does any one have any suggestions of a good campsite, preferably with or near a pool?

Campingplatz Kirchzarten has a great pool next door with free use for campers.

Belchenblick in Staufen is our favourite.  its next to a municipal pool & has an agreement with them - I cant remember whether its free or discounted for campers but anyway very convenient. A stream runs by the site and you can walk alongside it to the town which is full of cafes and restaurants and very pretty. It is also only a short drive to Frieburg.

We've been to Staufen too - and liked the site, but thought the pitches were just on the cramped side (and we don't have a big van). The washblock was absolutely immaculate.    The downsides, if I remember, were that you had to wear swimming hats in the pool, and there was some noise from the trains, which fortunately stopped at night.

We also stayed at Kirchzarten back in the mid-70s so no doubt it will have changed a lot since then.  We also spent some time at Lindau, on the banks of Lake Constance, which was absolutely lovely.

Hi Alvin we are going to the Black forest for first time this year we have booked   www.campingpark-oase.de  Cant comment on the site as havent been yet but the family have been very helpfull so far as we had problems with our bank making the payment for deposit (they wanted £25) so the family have said they will except our booking with no deposit and sent us several helpfull emails about the surrounding area.

Going from the 17-7-08 stopping at Lux for few nights then down to Black forest for 14 nights and just ordered my tickets for europa park from Tesco's

We have stayed at Belchenblick a couple of times. In many ways it is a surperb campsite with a superb location just on the edge of a pretty town. Unfortunately it also has some annoying features, not all exclusive to this one German campsite. As Val says the pitches are on the tight side and they are allocated. They have a particularly long closing period during the middle of the day. They only take cash in payment. Apart from that the new toilet facilities are superb.

David

I had bookmarked Belchenblick as it looked pretty good - is it a good base for walking? Thanks Jane

Feriencamping Munstertal just up the valley from Belchenblick is also very good. We've stayed at both of them in the past.
