We are looking for a good site near to Naples for the Summer. We have a 7.2 metre van so require reasonably good access and, for Italy, a large pitch at lease 7.5 metres square. There will probably only be my wife and I. We prefer quieter sites and, if possible, launching for our 3.1 metre Zodiac inflatable boat.
Having been a far as Rome last year we are hoping to get a bit further south this year.
Thanks
Tim

We stayed at Nettuno a couple of years ago. We were the first Brit caravanners in the 30 years it had been open.
The pitches are not marked, it would only take about a dozen vans, the other terracing is for tents.
The road down(and I mean down) to it is narrow with many hairpin bends and cars parked for the visitors to the beach.
For access to the site, you will need to drive to the end of the road, use the bus turning circle to come back up the road.
Our daughter flew out to us and on arrival late in the evening, her first impression she told us at the end of her week stay was 'What have you brought me to'
Now that is the less positive side of the site.
At the end of her stay, she said it was the best relaxing holiday she had had for some time. We had a superb two week holiday there.
The opposite side of the road from the site is where the Villagio is situated.
With regard to your boat, beaches in all of that area are at a premium. Any access to sea is described as 'a beach' You certainly would not be able to launch from Nettuno 'beach'
A better site for you with regards to access and pitch size would be Santa Fortunata on the outskirts of Sorrento
Yes we have been there twice and have never seen a rat once. Having said that, we had rats in the garden shed and I have seen many of them in the outside waste areas of our big Supermarkets. Rats live everywhere.
The 'scruffy statics' may relate to the dozen or so old green vans which can be located if you crawl through the undergrowth. They are not used by the site.
We will certainly go back when we go into that area.
Re Santa Fortunata, we camped there last summer. it is a decent site with lots of terraces on a steep hill but I'm not sure you would want to carry your inflatable down to the 'beach' which is a bit of rock/concrete next to a Hotel beach (bit of shingle) to launch it.
Also it is hairy in a car around Amalfi so it would be definitely be an adventure with a caravan!
Be very careful in and around Naples area it can get rough. It's not the sort of place you would send the wife to go and get the milk on her own.
Also a warning to everyone going to Italy if you use a U.K. credit card to pay the AUTOPISTA tolls it does not always work in their machines, they then give you a slip that you have to pay at a later time, if you leave this till you get back to the UK it will get very expensive.
