I hope I'm not the only one to be "confused" by the term 'Aire'.
There is more than one type of 'Aire':
1. The smaller 'Aires' on the autoroute or other major roads, which are places to stop and picnic, usually with a toilet block.
2. The larger 'Aires' or Service Stations, which also sell fuel, and have a shop and restaurant, also on the autoroutes.
3. 'Aires de Camping Car' which are areas in towns and villages, set aside for Motorhome owners to stop over, or overnight, usually with the provision of a hook-up and waste disposal.
I know in some other threads people talk about 'Aires' without always explaining which type they are talking about. However, you've got answers to all types here - Aires de Camping Car are listed in the book, and the autoroute 'Aires' are shown on the Michelin maps - in different colours, depending on the facilities offered, with 'full' Service Stations shown in blue and the smaller picnic-type shown in green.
