I,ll be travelling up Aug 29th from near Frejus and wondered if anyone can recommend a place for a transit stop in a hotel or M/Home.There will be 6 of us.

Are you looking for a cheap stop-over?  Look here for all the budget hotel chains with links to each website.  Any are fine for an overnight stop.

From experience, we've usually reached Burgundy, when setting off from La Croix Valmer, before needing an overnight stop.  If you're looking for somewhere actually worth stopping over, then Beaune is very nice - and worth a look around.  I've also just been reading a 'France' magazine, which shows the centre of Dijon - which also looks quite a nice place, and though we've been 'through' it and 'around' it many times we've never stopped there.

If you're looking for a mobile for one night, then perhaps try Lac de Panthier at Vandenesse, or La Grappe d'Or near to Beaune, which both hire out their own mobiles (but perhaps not for one night, not sure???)

Ive tried Vals two suggestions for mobiles but dont seem available for only 1 night so at the mo not really sure what im doing,it may have to be the dreaded hotel.YUKK

Im staying for a week in a Gite on the way down near Dijon so will explore that area more fully.Ive travelled through on numerous occasions and been impressed by the likes of Beune but never really stayed long so im looking forward to correcting that situation.

Eurocamp and Canvas Holidays do 'on the spot' lettings, arranged  by the couriers, for one night  (my son arranged some when working for Canvas Holidays, and we booked a Eurocamp mobile for our friends to join us on site, once).  You may just be lucky at the end of August - Lac de Panthier had quite a lot of empty Canbas tents when we were there in August one year.

My boys actually enjoyed staying in the 'Travellodge' type places - sometimes with beds up on a gallery - can't remember the 'chain' though.  They also enjoyed going out for a meal at a 'Flunch' or similar, and didn't ever complain about being cooped up.

Ninjas - there are some sites around which permit one night stops.  I've just been looking around those sites we've stayed in, in the Burgundy area, and Lac de Grebes at Marcenay, offers one night stays for 45 euros for a mobile home.  T

Try the Camping France website, and search by area - it's a bit tedious, but might be worth it if you don't want a hotel. 

Lac de Grebes is a bit off the beaten track, for you,  - however, we've done the (small) route from the autoroute to Montbard up to Marcenay where we've stayed a couple of times, and then carry on up to Troyes - with the caravan on the back - it's a real back road, with no other cars, and actually quite a nice little find for cutting off that corner.  You can then take the autoroute from Troyes upwards.  We've also done the N road from Dijon to just before Chatillon and then turn off. 

I agree Beaune is a good place to overnight. Its a lovely town to walk around- very pretty. It can be incredibly expensive to eat out there though so make sure you've got pleny of money left at the end of your hols!!

We've stayed at La Gappe D'Or as mentioned by Val. We have overnighted there twice, both times with Eurocamp and had no problems at all. The site has a lovely small resteraunt and lovely views over the vinyards.

Lac de Grebes looks ideal,ive e-mailed them and await a response.Many thanks Val.
