Just a little word to make you all aware of something which isn't made obvious in their advertising.
When you go to order your foreign currency from the Post Office, be aware that the minimum amount that you can order is £350.00 worth. Also although the advertising claims that the service is free, it also provides pretty much the poorest exchange rate around so it isn't in fact free.
If you have ordered your foreign currency from Barclays Bank, make sure that you don't have any €5.00 notes when you go to change your many back. They will not change these for you. The minimum denomination they will now change back is €10.00
Of course I realise that a lot of us use our cards when abroad but last Saturday I just wanted £100.00 of Euros for a day trip to Paris and these were conditions that I came up against that I wasn't aware of previously.
Thought I'd share them with you...........

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
I've always used Travelex on line for Euros. Dont know anyone to beat their rates (though you may know different). Once ordered, you can collect at your point of embarkation, be it airport, ferry port of tunnel terminal, and is a better rate than their 'walk in' rate !
We have used the Post Office on many occaions and have never had to order a minimum ammount and have always found their rates competitive. We usually take a couple of hundred pounds worth of euros with us then use our debit cards in the shops or cash machines abroad.
------------- I can remember when this was all fields.

It's online orders that have a limit of £350. If you just pop into your Post Office there isn't a limit.

I didn't realise that Liz. Thanks very much for setting the record straight.
I use my Nationwide debit and credit cards abroad as they give the best rates of exchange.
I always come home with at least a couple of hundred euros which I keep for my next trip abraod. This way I do not suffer punitive exchange rates converting euros back to sterling.

I often use the post office getting £100 worth of euros at a time. The exchange rates yesterday where better at the post office than some of the banks and travelex, although it was still only 1.21 which is poor.

TRy COOP travel shops, when I have compared along Gloucester high street, they generally beat all in the "how much do I get per £100 actually in my hand?" test.
