Just looked at a few weather sites for our trip to Burgundy/ Ardeche, we leave on Saturday. Not impressed to say the least, rain, rain and rain. OH says lets not bother going!! I said we are going whatever!!
What sites do you recommend I look at for France? Perhaps they will be better than the ones I've looked at??

Which have you been looking at? I don't think any forecasts of more than three or four days can be very accurate, so if I were you I wouldn't bother looking! We're leaving on Friday, and I'm not even going to look at weather until Saturday morning at the Baie de la Somme when we'll buy a paper!
If your going down as far as the Ardeche you may as well carry on to the coast, the forecast looks better there. Plenty of campsites around the Camargue. they wont be full this time of yr.
------------- Sell my camper? I'd rather eat school semolina!
trouble is we are going with Canvas holidays so are tied to one of their sites. I've looked at Metcheck, Meteo France, Accuweather and La Chaine meteo (recoomended on this site) anf all the 10 day forecasts are for 6 days of rain down south (ardeche, tarn gorges, even cote d'azur) Best weather appears to be Loire, Brittany and Vendee.
I know these weather sites arent always right but it is going to be alot of fuel and tolls to sit in the rain. Mmm we are going to sit in it tonight and see what Canvas hols can offer us tommorrow as possible alternatives.

It's certainly not seasonal weather almost everywhere. I've friends working in Sardinia for HappyCamp - and the weather there has been very poor since the start of the season three or so weeks ago. This week they had two days of rain. People coming back from Spain have commented that the weather was not as good as usual.
Canvas Holidays used to offer alternatives to booked accommodation, and at one time you could actually request a change of site whilst you were there. We had a week booked in Domme, but I'd reacted badly to something in the site pool, and they moved us down to Vias on the Mediterranean. All we paid was an 'arrangement' fee of the cost of a few telephone calls.
Let's just inject a large dose of optimism, and project that we all have a great holiday whatever the weather.
Last time we were with Canvas (2 yrs ago) the charge to make a change while you were on site was £30.
We were going to stay on an extra night on the way home because we had a great pitch at our overnight and the weather was lovely - but one extra night would have cost us about £70!
That being said when my daughter got injured at Ty Nadan it was apparent that the next site we were booked on was going to be more suitable for a child with a stooky on - so they amended our bookings for free.
We are off to Le Brevedent this weekend and i check the weather forecast on several sites. They all say something different and they change daily - one day sunny next day rain! I should give up really as it will be what it will be but i can't help looking and being optimistic!
think we are just going to brave it and stick with our original plans (afirst for me LOL) we have been really looking forward to the Ardeche and is it comes to it we can always ask to move further south once there, hopefully site will have internet access so we can check the weather!!

well all the sites now say different things!! Yes Art B we had plenty of water here in Glos but other than no running water for 2 weeks we were ok. So many people still not back in their homes, living in caravans etc. So my moaning about a bit of rain in france is daft, best just pack the wellies!!
Temps look ok and any rain is mainly showers.

Just before we were off to Brittany last year every weather forecast said rain every day. They were right but only for 10mins - 1hr per day. In between the sun shone and we got the worst sunburn we've ever had as we were being a bit slack about the sun cream. I wouldn't worry about forecast just pack for every eventuality.
