Hi all,

We will be driving to Noja in Northern Spain in August, via Dover. Would appreciate some route recommendations and where to stay enroute.

We land in Calais at 04:00 Monday and are booked in at a site in Noja from the Wednesday so we have approx 2.5 days to leisurely drive down through France into Spain.

We would like to avoid toll roads if possible but that isn't a deal breaker. Here's the plan thus far :- We are thinking of stopping over mid France for a night then drive down towards the French Pyrenees for a night before driving through to Noja on the Wednesday. We would like to here your opinions please...

TIA.

Dave.

Yer best route imho from Calais using good roads with least toll is Calais Abbeville Rouen Chartes Tours Poitiers Bordeaux to border.

I'd pay toll between Tours/Poitiers the N rd beside it is a bit slow. use N10 between Poitiers/Bordeaux dual carriageway toll free & Bordeaux to border is toll free until you get near Biarritz. In Spain your on toll until near your destination(iirc!).

With a motorhome there is no need to stay on campsites on the way down. I wouldnt stop on motorway services tho, turn off into a small town & you will be able to park on the town centre car park or there may be a signposted motorhome parking area(aire du campingcar).

Agree with Marty's route, used to drive a truck down that way in the 80's. Used to take 12 hours driving to reach Irun, of course this was at a top speed 50 mph or so.
