Having booked a ferry last year for two weeks in Europe at the beginning of July we have not yet arranged any sites, so are now trying to get organised.  Having been to France for the last couple of years, we thought it was time to see a bit more of Belgium and Germany.

I wondered if anyone has any comments on Camping de Durnal in Belgium, or Camping Burg Lahneck in Germany.  They seem to be in pretty good positions, and would gratefu, to know of anyones experiences of either.

Thanks

Bryan

I stayed at Camping Durnal a couple of years ago on way to Italy. I have just posted this review but they can take a couple of days to get published so here it is.

We stayed here for an overnight stopover on the way to Italy. We found it ideal for our purposes. There were a couple of Brits on the site but most using it for a stopover. The pitches were OK but not large (at least ours wasn't large) but big enough for our needs. Toilets and showers were clean.

The site is easy to find and only about 10 minutes from the motorway.

There is a large amount of private statics on site. The touring pitches are seperate from the statics. There is a playground and take away that we didn't use and a bar which we did. It served one of the best beers I have ever tasted.

Would it be any good for a longer stay - I don't know but for an overnight stop it was ideal. I would use it again.

I've never stayed at Camping Burg Lahneck.

We stopped at Burg Lahneck on our first trip abroad about 6 years ago.

It is perched on top of a hill with lovely views over the Rhine, if you get on the right side.  There is a small shop and clean shower block.  The restaurant served good food.

Next door is an outdoor municipal pool which you get at a reduced price.  A step walk down the hill among the trees takes you into the little town which has a huge Globus supermarket.

We got the train (I think) into Koblenz and the bus back.  A large town with plenty of shops.

My favorite thing was Frau Milchka's husband (sp?) on the tannoy at 10pm telling everyone to be quiet (it was completely silent anyway) because the little children were asleep

If we were in the area we would stay again. The  C & CC use them and I've always to find their sites good.
