We are travelling to Interlaken in 8 weeks time. We are doing the Newcastle to Amsterdam crossing and wondered if anyone could give us any ideas for a stopover of 2 nights on the way down. According to Autoroute we should take the A3 and then A5 through germany. Is this the best route?. Any advice on route, stopover and traffic conditions would be very helpful.

Thanks

I think that is defo the best route as it is motorway or a road all the way so you just keep going we used to go Harwich  to the Hook. We would then drive down to Switzerlad it took about 10 hours. but we always arrived at the hotel for dinner at night. I have to say that was a long time ago and i am sure the roads have improved since then. We also didn't have a caravan either so could travel faster.

We did once travel through France but it took longer and we stayed at some really awful hotel in Delfor.

We are also going to Camping Jungfrau in Lauterbrunnen in 4 weeks. Travelling via Dover - Dunkerque, docking at 9:30am so we are only going as far as Luxembourg or maybe just south of it on the first day.
