When going abroad or for a trip further afield in the UK?
I was wondering how many took a small emergency tent, just incase there's a problem with the main one. Once camping in the New Forest something happened to our tent pole and a couple near by offered us their spare tent.

We took 2 tents to France but we were moving on a lot and seeing lots of places.
It wasn't an emergency tent as such but a smaller one for when we were only staying 1 night or bad weather would make it harder putting up the larger tent.
We always take 2 tents for the same reasons as 'blongs'.
We have also found it useful to swop to a small tent for the last night of our hols, to make it easier on the day we travel home. - nothing worse than finding that it's raining when you want to pack up and get off home.

Exactly the same as discovery. We take a small tent for overnight stops on the way down to our destination and pack up the big tent and car on the last night so that we only have to take down a small tent and pack away the sleeping bags and airbeds in the morning. I had never thought of it as an emergency tent - but now I've got another reason for taking it!!
When we had a disaster one year and unpacked our tent to discover mice and mildew had attatcked it ( we had stored it for first time in an outside shed- never agian!) we went to the nearest French hypermarket and bought a cheap and cheerful dome with 4 bedrooms for about £30! as far as I remember. I have never been worried since cos thats what we would do again or buy a few qchecuas and sell them on Ebay later
Yes we take two, one small one for the stopovers and a large one for the main part of the holiday. I would be really upset if our large tent had a problem though. I would definately check it over thoroughly before leaving if I thought there might be a problem with it, I wouldn't want to leave it to chance. If a problem was to occur during the holiday like storm damage or something then I would just have to accept that.

I don't take a spare tea towel, never mind a spare tent - where would it go?
Thats what my plastic friend and Decathlon are for - what a great excuse to HAVE to buy a set of popups! I really fancy a couple of 3-man popups and one of the 'living' areas.
Holidaying on motorbikes means space is at a premium, so no spare for us. Most of the big Hypermarkets sell little dome tents in the Summer and failing that a small hotel/motel/b&b is rarely far away.
Our trailer tent lives in France - but we always take our small tents for the last night. Because our tt needs to be well packed away and completely dry , we break camp the night before , thern we can enjoy our last morning and finish off in a matter of mins - inevitably it rains on our last day, so this prevents the tt from getting wet!
