Thought we'd better stop hogging the other thread chatting! We went to the adventure parc at Givry, its excellent, very reasonable too so make sure you get there this year. Nice staff who speak some English, we were also told the Lake at Laives is good with pedalos and a beach. Touro Parc? spelling is also supposed to be good with a zoo and waterpark with slides.  I am going to email the site to ask what dates the kids club runs as it sounds perfect for our 9 yr old daughter. The sandpit and paddling pool were empty when we were there (end of May).

I have to agree with your wife about not wanting to be further up the site as further form the toilets LOL. We also loved the pizzas. Trying to persuade OH we need to take our bikes next year as like you said its perfect for the kids to cycle round.

Will make sure we go to Givry this year, also thanks for mentioning the lake at Laives, as the only thing that possibly lets the holiday down for us is the fact its not a beach holiday. But this could be the next best thing!

Did you walk down the road that runs down the back of the site down to the river? There is boat mooring place there, with a bar. There beer in there is fantastic! Not your normal euro fizz stuff. Mind you when we went in there we had just finished the 3 hour cannoeing trip that you can book through the campsite, so was absolutly gagging!

This was the first campsite we had been camping at as a family, and it was awful. We where having a week in a villa in Nice, and we were originally going to drive it in one, but the wife suggested that we stop off for one night and camp on the way down. We arranged to stop 1 night on the way down and 3 nights on the way back up. We bought a tent second hand, bought a cheap cool box and five sleeping bags, and a picinic set. That was the total of our camping gear, how naive!

When we arrived it started to thunder and rain, and we were give the second pitch down from the swimming pool, which is a hard standing really for caravans. We could'nt get the pegs in, shouting and rowing occured between me and the OH. Decided to move the car so to tie the guy ropes to it and promtly reversed into a tree. We had an terrible nights sleep due to not having any kind of bed, and nothing to sit on either! Could not wait to leave in the morning, and was starting to dread the up coming 3 days on the way back up.

After a fantastic week in a beatiful villa we reluctantly travelled back north for another session of camping. Fortunately this time we were given our now custom pitch on the large camping field, and what a difference! I can safely say even with our lack of equipment this was the best 3 days of the holiday, and we have been hooked on camping ever since.

LOL Dale, sorry but you made me laugh!! We forgot to pack our airbeds one weekend and did I ache after 2 nights lying on the ground. We now seem to take everything but the kitchen sink (mind you our combicamp does have a sink!!)

We are booked for the Dordogne this year but are definetly booking Epeviere next year.
