Hi,

Can anyone recommend a good (tent) campsite in the Brittany Region for 2 weeks in August.

We are looking for a small, family-friendly site, a 'family-run' sort of thing.

We are 2 adults, 2 children (8+10), so anything with a pool or local beach would be handy.

Many thanks in anticipation.

Carolyn

We really love this site. It is one of the best-looking and friendly sites I have ever stayed at.

We were there for 3 weeks last August. Heard the road noise on occasion, but it definitely didn't intrude where we were. The site is located in a busy area, but this means that the hypermarket is within walking distance, as is the city centre of Quimper - recognised as being one of the most beautiful cities in France. It is an odd place - being close to the city - but when you are on the site it feels like the middle of nowhere. Very mature trees and shrubs all around, and we definitely got the feeling of being 'away from it all' when we were sitting outside the bar watching our kids play. We will be going back again without a doubt. Loved it!!

Brittany seems blessed with excellent family campsites.Ive stayed at several and my favs have been.

1)Camping la tousse near St Malo, very friendly "french" site with good atmosphere, nice playground and a short stroll from an excellent sandy beach.

2)Camping des abers in the far west, not as many things to do outside the site but what a location right by the beach.Friendly french atmosphere.

3)Camping club du saint Laurent excellent family site with lots todo, beautiful location and area, kids clubs entertainment a more international feel than some.

4)Camping Kervilor good facilities in a nice area, way to many brits for my liking but you may like that!

My kids loved them all but there fav was definetely camping la tousse.

We have been before and are going back this year.  Easy walk to beach and has pools and slides on site.

Have a look at www.camping-des-iles.fr

We loved our first trip abroad there last year and our two ( 8 & 7 ) had a ball.

http://www.campings-franceloc.fr/camping-kervel-EN.html

We have stayed here a couple of times and can recommend it. It seems that it is under new management. We have stayed at one other campsite run by this company and it was of a very high standard. (Domaine des Plantas in the Rhone Alps)- so I would imagine it would still be ok.

It's a good site for younger children. I wouldn't recommend it for those in search of lots of evening entertainment.

  Hi and thanx everyone.

There are some seriously lovely places, and we are now spoilt for choice.
