Has anyone been to Penboch recently? I've looked at the reviews on this site but they're a couple of years old. Would like to know if the pitches are spacious, site clean and well maintained and whether barbeques are allowed?

Thanks

We off to Penboch tomorrow! I'll post a review on here when we get back in two weeks.

Hi Alicarb

How was it? Hope you had a good holiday! We're going next Sunday - do I need to look for a different site or is Penboch nice?

Hi Floobs

Pleased to report that we had a fantastic time at Penboch.  Good location only a few kilometres from Vannes. We had adjoining pitches with our daughter and her husband who had a tent (Outwell XXL) with their two young children.  The site was exactly what we were looking for, small indoor heated pool and a larger outdoor pool with water slides (water was really cold in this though!).  There are two washblocks, both kept very clean, with good facilities.  Reception staff were friendly and spoke English.  There is a small bar area which makes very basic snacks. Bread and croissants can be bought daily, along with other basic provisions.  Most pitches appeared spacious, although not all had electric and/or water. Probably half the site has chalet lodges, mostly occupied by French, with remaining pitches a mix oftents/caravans. No noisy night life here, with quiet times at night respected.  Barbeques are allowed and the site was well maintained and clean. Local beach is only a few minutes walk from the site,  would recommend beaches to the west and Carnac.  We would definitely go back there.

Hope you have a fab time if you do stay there! :

Thanks Alicarb - I'm looking forward to going there now! Which ferry crossing did you use? We've booked Dover-Calais and then returning Cherbourg - Portsmouth. The drive from Calais will be quite long but the crossing was so much cheaper than the other options I looked at.

Well we booked the crossings last December! so there was plenty of choice and cabins available for overnight crossings, as Portsmouth is our closest port we took an overnight crossing from there to St Malo, taking only a couple of hours to get to the site. Coming back we took the Caen Portsmouth route, which took about 4 1/2 hours, but we were towing and OH didn't break any land speed records! .
