superb site, one of the best if not THE best we`ve ever been to,here or france. stopped in 2005 on the way to the vendee and it was so good we stayed 2 nights on the way back.never come across such a great atmosphere generated by many different nationalities together.

That's a really good recommendation.  I'm trying to persuade Mr Val A to spend a little more time in the north of France this year - and perhaps this will do it!  We always seem to rush down to the south, and then don't do our return journey until the very last minute.

One of the most enjoyable 'returns to England' was when we miscalculated our days (don't ask) and had a free 'extra' day, which we used at Gandspette.  It was lovely having time to unwind, sightsee, eat out, and shop at our leisure.  Perhaps this year we may do it at Haliosism which I've always thought looked nice.

We really enjoyed our overnight stops at Salbris this year - a real mix of nationalities, everyone getting on and chatting in whatever language we had in common, and super friendly manager and wife.  We had a problem with our battery and had to call out Green Flag, - but the manager and his wife were so helpful and concerned that they got a friend to come and see us to try to sort out the problem.  When we returned just two weeks later on the way back they absolutely beamed on seeing us again - and that was the site where we watched the European Cup - with Dutch and French teams playing each other - and us 'in the middle'.

We stayed at Haliotis last year and one of the things that sets it apart from many campsites in France is the friendliness of the team who are all very committed. Before we went I had seen so many excellent reviews that I was convinced there was a flaw but found none! For those taking a laptop they have free WiFi. One tip, particularly out of high season go left at reception and drive further into the site nearer the mobiles homes as there are some very spacious fully serviced pitches there and we were not charged extra for using them!

The pitches you refer to were all fully booked up in June as were all the other pitches.   If we had not phoned ahead ( 5 days ahead) we would not have got in at all and as it was we had only the choice of 2 pitches when we arrived mid afternoon.  Word has obviously spread about the Site but maybe outside June, July and August you could have use of the lovely pitches you referred to.
