Has anyone been here or going soon? We're off on 12th August. Just wondered what people have thought about it. Has got some great reviews elsewhere on the web. Just hope they live up to my expectations!

We loved it, and have been back about half a dozen times now,  - but we go out of peak season, and I imagine that is very different to going in peak season.  However, the facilities are absolutely first class, the toilet blocks are immaculate - each with a resident team of cleaners, the two pool complexes are superb, lovely grassy surrounds, one at each end of the site, there's a coffee shop/bread/patisserie where you can take a coffee outside, with a cake, a supermarket (reasonable), restaurant (lovely meals, at reasonable prices), take-away, bar/games area, and evening entertainment which is very professional and outside peak season doesn't go on to late.  There's a laundry, which washes your clothes for you - and you can actually have them ironed or dry-cleaned too!!  Everything you could want.

The vegetation on site is just sufficient for shade, with some exotic palm trees, and lots of flowers.  The entry road and the roads dividing the pitches are just a little narrow, but I see you're not towing so that won't be a problem.  There's good security, both day and night, and the night staff escort any 'late' teenagers back to their pitch, making sure they don't make a noise.

You're walking distance from the beach - DON'T cross the level crossing, we witnessed someone get a shoe stuck there - but go over the bridge, and down the road.  Sandy beach nearby, great market in Cambrils itself, and interesting trips up into the mountains or the Ebro delta if you wish!

A great site, and one of our all-time favourites.  Even my 'definitely don't do camping or caravanning' brother-in-law, after his visit to us there, said that if all campsites were like Cambrils Park that he wouldn't bother with hotels.  They flew to Reus, and joined us over a Spring Bank Holiday - and are thinking of going back there for a yearly reunion with university friends (quite something for a non-camper!!!).

Could you advise how long it takes to drive there from Calais. How many stops you need?  I have been strongly thinking about Ile de Re but guaranteed (almost) weather in spain does really appeal but oh thinks distance is a bit scary. I think it would be an adventure.

Thanks Val for your great reply - I'm really looking forward to it now! Is Cambrils town within walking distance from the site? We may also venture in to Salou for a night or two - is that within walking distance too? I've read there are regular buses, but sometimes we like a nice walk. It's great actually being able to ask someone who's been there!

Minnie1 - Driving distance really depends on you. Personally I can drive a long  distance with breaks every 2-3 hours. Wife won't drive abroad so we can't share the driving. When we've done Spain before we would have one overnight stop and drive for two days. Calais to Salou would be approximately 18 hours including stops. But again depends on the sailings you get. I prefer to arrive Calais really early, drive all day then stop at a motel overnight and drive throughout the next day. When I was younger and would go travelling with a group of lads, we would drive until the tank ran dry, swapping over drivers all the time.

Hi, we went two years ago with Euro Camp, staying in one of their mobile homes. Lovely site, with great facilities and good evening entertainment. We found Salou too busy and touristy, in my view you dont go on holiday to a foreign country only to eat in an English theme pub. Having said that you will find decent places to eat along the front if you want. We had our car which allowed us to tour the area, head South to the nature reserve, lovely deserted beaches. As for driving, we made it to Spanish border in about 11hrs and from memory I think it was about 2.5 hrs from the border. We certainly did it in one day and that was with a 4 yr old in the back with lots of dvds to watch!! You will have a fantastic time and be prepared for it to be hot!

doesn't sound too bad. We went to Orlando in April and the flight alone was 9 hrs, when you add on the 3 hours at the airport, drive to the airport , having to park  etc etc and you have your own car and can stop when you like I reckon this sounds like a fab idea.

Hi Minnie 1, when we go to either South of France or Spain we always drive. I know some people like to potter down there taking two days but we are too impatient!!! The French roads - with the exception of Paris area - are always easy to drive with very good services at regular intervals on the way. Using Tom Tom this year which should stop any family fall outs on the way lol! Beats sitting in an airport and on a plane for a day! I would be surprised if you werent shocked at how easy and how close the Med is these days with the French road system. We go on Fri week to Port Grimaud.

You can walk to Cambrils from the campsite, but it's a long walk - and if the weather is hot.....!   We've walked along the beach - but just once!!   Salou is a shorter walk, but as said, Salou is very touristy - there are quite a few 'English' restaurants there, but also some 'Dutch' and even 'Russian'.  Of the two, I prefer Cambrils - there are some lovely restaurants around the harbour area.
