Just in case anyone isn't aware, I got an email from P&O today saying my ferry times have changed for August.

Apparently one of the ferries they hoped to be running is out of service so they are running reduced summer services.

My friends who are booked with Keycamp checked their tickets and found they have also had their ferry changed (without any warning, so they hadn't spotted it) - luckily to the same ferry that we have been changed to.

Going we are on a ferry 15 minutes earlier - so we could have missed it, and coming back we were on one 45 minutes later, but I have changed that to the earlier one which again is 15 minutes before our original time. They tried to charge me an admin fee, but I pointed out all I was asking for was to be put on the nearest time to our original booking, so they waived the fee.

Have your times changed dramatically?

I think those booked direct will be ok as they will get an email notification, but for those booked with holiday companies like Keycamp it looks like its just amended on the tickets with no actual 'notification'.

About half an hour later each way, so it gives a bit more leeway to get from the Wirral to Dover.

Not quite the same thing, but we are crossing on the channel tunnel in August. We couldn't find our booking confirmation from booking it in January so my wife phone them. We wanted to amend it as originally we were taking the dogs with us, now we are not.

Anyway, they couldn't find anything about our booking! The lady searched their entire sytstem for our name / postcode / departure dates and nothing!

Wife shreds all our statements and not sure which card we used to book it anyway so can't prove we made the booking or paid for it.

So we think we may not have actually booked it? Just had to make a booking at the cost of £268 return!!!

At least we are booked now even if it's more than we originally thought back in January.

Its better than getting to Folkstone and finding we can't get across!

I had a text message from P & O on my landline (!)

Our times are 10 minutes earlier from Dover and 5 minutes later leaving Calais.

Our Seafrance crossing has also been changed. Outward + 1 hour, inward - 15 mins. What's happening? First Time in 24 years we've had our times changed.

I can see how the hour change could be difficult, but surely 15 mins or even half an hour isn't that bad.  Are we the only ones who plan to arrive in plenty of time for a crossing? Leaving from Dover as well there is always another crossing.

We always use the ferries, living only 10mins from Dover. It is the Pride of Canterbury causing problems - I think it was around Feb time that she hit a local sand bank in a storm and the prop and shaft was ripped out. She has been on freight service with one engine since then. The ferries run like a bus service, so its not as if you wont get over within another hour if you miss your crossing!

We only found out when we got our final invoice from the Caravan Club - they have moved us forward to the next ferry.  Phoned and asked if we could be put on the earlier one and they said that would attract an admin fee.

So, guess what?  We will be on the docks in plenty of time to hopefully be put on the earlier ferry FOC  !!!

The issue for us was that we need to be on the same ferry as friends who have booked via Keycamp going out, and that coming back we didn't want to be any later (we already plan to get an earlier one if we arrive in time) as the kids start school the day after we get back.

I was worried that at such a peak time if our friends had been put on the later ferry then even if they arrived early they might not get on with us as it could be full. Not sure how full the ferries run, but they've always looked pretty chocca in the past during the week even with all their ships running and we are on a weekend one this time.

I didn't have much problem getting the guy to waive the admin fee when I pointed out the ferry I wanted was the closest one in time to my original booking.

We don't actually plan to get to Dover with 'loads' of time to spare as if we were delayed by traffic we assume we'd be put on the next one anyway.

Thanks xtinexoop

We are going with keycamp.  I have just checked online and our ferry crossings have been changed by half an hour each way.  We have not had any notification from Keycamp so I would not have noticed the change as I had printed the travel voucher before the change was made.
