Hi,

We are going to the Dordogne in two weeks time and starting to think about the weather.  I am sure it is going to be lovely but as we are first timers camping abroad i want to ask all you seasoned campers if we should have a back up plan.

We are thinking of planning to drive further south to where there will be a better chance of sun. Can anyone give me some advice.

Thank you

Danielle

The only comment I will make is that the weather on the coast was sunnier than inland last year .  As for a back up plan, we've never bothered, enjoy the country, the food, the wine and the people.

Hi Danielle. Probably the easiest option is to just head further south. The weather on the cote d`azure is almost guarennteed to be hot and sunny if you don`t mind the drive. I have checked the internet (internet cafe if you don`t take a lap top)in such circumstances too and headed for where the weather looks good.

Have a great time

Keep your options open. Last year we kept going until we reached the Ardeche  and we had fantastic weather. We decided to head for the Med & it was very hot, but as soon as we got back up to the Dordogne area it was raining again. However, we were pleased to have had good weather most of the time and we still managed to go canoeing in the sun, when the weather cleared up.

Bear in mind, also, that we have been able to travel without making pre-bookings at campsites and we have never had a problem. If you take a campsite guide, you can have more freedom to choose what to do with your time.

If you've not already booked (and paid deposit) then keep your options open. Even at the height of the season there are pitches to be found so you will be fine if you want to venture further south.

Have a great time. We always take our main holiday in France (2-3 weeks) and have had nothing but positive experiencs of the sites we've stayed on.

We're not going til August 15th - I can't wait!!!
