Hi

This is my first post so hope I've chosen the right section.

My son is off to Benicassim near Valencia for a music festival at which he will be camping. I have two single burner stoves, one using the piercable Camping Gaz cylinders and the other using the resealable Coleman type cylinder. As he is flying weight is important and the second type would be the best to take.

Does anyone know if the Coleman type resealable cylinders are available in Spain or is he better off sticking with Camping Gaz which should be fairly easy to get, having read the 1st time continental campers guide.

Any help gratefully received. Thanks in anticipation.

Needless to say he goes at the weekend.

Why couldn't he go to Leeds like he did for the last 2 years

Ray

My friend's daughter is off to the same festival - but I think she has knocked the 'cooking' idea on the head, relying on festival food and drink!!!

I'm almost certain I've seen the Camping Gaz small pierceable cylinders for sale in Spain.  Our Camping Gaz stove is basically just a 'trivet' - and very light indeed without the gas cylinder - are you sure that wouldn't be the lighter of the two?  Our Coleman screw in stove is a much heavier object.

Thanks for the reply

It isn't actually a Coleman stove, but uses that type of cylinder. I don't know the make but it's a lovely light weight thing I used to use years ago.

The Camping Gaz one is even older, one of the original design I would think. We've just burnt the remaining gas off and it doesn't actually weigh that much more, just takes up more room. So I think that might be the way to go, and anyway I haven't got to carry it.

I bet they will end up going down the same route as your friends daughter even if they take the cooking stuff

Thanks again

Ray

I hope it's nice weather for them, then perhaps they won't need to cook.  I hope they all have a great time.

We were down in Abersoch this weekend, discussing festivals with the friend mentioned above.  It was 'Wakestock' in Abersoch, which is another music festival - and the tide-mark of mud on the wellie boots worn by most of the kids (those who weren't barefoot) rose slowly over the weekend!  We met some lads who'd been to Wakestock, on our way home, and they were entirely covered in mud, even their hair!

Perhaps someone else can just confirm that small cylinders of Camping Gaz are available in France - you know how you begin to doubt your memory.......???!!!!  If the worst comes to the worst, and he can't find a cylinder to fit, I'm sure he'll get by somehow!

Hi, I've not long got back from travelling to Spain & France, (don't ask about the weather), and if you go into any of the large hypermarkets (especially Carefoures) you will usely find camping gas and its a lot cheaper than it is at home.

Can't wait until September when we are off to Germany for the Caravan and Motorhome show in Dusseldorf, not sure which area to go to afterwards though.

Enjoy your holiday17.
