We have often used them while at campsites and skiing but do often find we end up talking to the wrong people as so many folks have them - can be amusing at times but also frustrating if you really want the kids back for tea!

Can I suggest that if you have not already purchaed your walkie talkies, that you consider the models that split the main channels and allow (I think) it is 8 more frequencies between each standard channel. Much less chance of talking to the wrong people with these!

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Were just back from 13 days in the Vendee region of France.
Our kids (8 & 9) used them and enjoyed the freedom the walkie talkies gave them.
The site was large but very tastefully sectioned up with strategically planted trees and shrubbery. This however meant that the kids very quickly/easily disappeared from view whenever away from the pitch.
Without the walkie talkies, they would never have been allowed to wander as much as they did or go to the play park unattended.
We did encounter the problem of making contact with others a coded word or two stating which channel you should both move to would help cure thus though.
We tried using ours in Holland this year but I seemed to be able to speak to every kid on a walkie talkie but my own, found this quite worrying some kids very chatty even when they realised they were not talking to the right adult( could just be me overreacting as a mum),anyway decided to stop using them .
