Tim - to me it makes absolute sense (even if it's not the law) to have a high-viz vest for anyone in the car. If you have an accident, or a breakdown, then the usual advice is to get out of the car and to a safer place of refuge (behind the safety barriers, for instance). In that scenario it makes sense for anyone getting out of the car to make sure that they are as 'visible' as possible. For that reason we've always carried enough vests for the number of passengers, law or not.

No probs at all Tim. While I'm here though, I'd just say that while the law states that only one gilet needs to be carried, I'm with Val that as many as there are potential passengers is a very common sense thing to do.
Incidentally, Leclerc are selling these things just now at €1.45. Yet another instance of rip-off Britain? I bought both the triangle and a gilet for the van last week in our local SuperU for just €9.99. They still have plenty available as of this afternoon.
My advice would be to buy them over here and save yourselves some cash for the wine & beer!
Hi Stu - our local discount 'Pound Shop' was selling them just recently for £1 - so cheap at half the price, as they say - and worth it just for the peace of mind.

That's good then Val. I heard some tales of them being sold at daft prices! I know when I had a proper job, I used to buy them from Arco at Wakefield/Dewsbury for silly money for the lads.
