The best place to stop if not on a campsite is the Aire des Deux Caps, on the motorway around 20-30 kms outside of Calais. They have special areas set aside for 'vanners etc. It's also patrolled by security guards throughout the night.

MK Brummie,

The Aire Baiye de Somme, about 1 1/2 hous drive south on the A28 is also a god place to get your head down, seperate area for caravans, patrolled at night

Either of those 2 aires mentioned by Stu and George are ideal. Probably 2 of the best autoroute aires to 'overnight' on.

Hi Mr Brummie. Agree with the previous posters re La Baie de Somme and Aire des 2 Caps, BUT both are on the A16 not A28,(A16 south of Calais then onto A28)

I'd agree too - I've some photographs of Baie de la Somme which is a great place to overnight - and the showers are free, too.

baie du somme is a great spot
but if you'd rather have a campsite can recommend Neufchatel en Bray - handy for le clerc supermarket as well.

I'm sure I picked it up from here but can't spot it now

Sure, can you let me have your email address again.  Thanks.  There are only a couple which show anything of the site - the remainder are of the ducks and their ducklings, but the two I have do show how nice the areas are.

We stayed on Aire Baiye de Somme on the 28th of June. I think this must be one /if not the best and safest Aire in France. This was the second year that we have stopped there nad will go there anytime we pass that way.
