For those of you who were interested in the cost of a holiday to Scandinavia, we have now reconciled our credit card and bank statement.
We spent £2570 approx overall...including food, diesel, site fees, ferries, tolls, excursions etc. for a total of 6 weeks around Denmark, Norway and Sweden in our folding camper. Considering Carefree are offering a 3 week trip for £2630, we did not think that was too bad. Site fees averaged out at £14.90 per night and food £105 per week
(we ate out 6 times if you include the meals on the overnight ferry)
Not much different to over here in high season.
We found that if you shopped wisely and did not eat out or buy wine/beer, it was not bad. Site fees are reasonable compared to here, but we found that most sites are not a patch on the CC ones.
You were there before the high season, pitch fees then are min £20 per night, which I think is still OK, but on the Norwegian Caravan Club forum they seem to think that is high!
The real difference in cost of living becomes apparent when you look at the price of car related stuff, quality clothes , alcohol, and imported food.
Thanks for sharing your travels. There are some really good photographs but the ones I liked the best were the Morris Minors towing vans. When we were in Germany we went to a supermarket in Lemgo and parked outside was a bright red left hand drive Morris Traveller. The same as my first car, although mine was bog standard green!

Good to hear it's still reasonable. We had a great time there about 8 or 9 years ago now. Like you we didn't spend much more than we would have done here. We travelled by public transport through Norway, Sweden and Denmark, with a tent on our back. Eating and drinking out, is the expensive thing, be we don't do that much when we camp out at home anyway! Still we found a bar in Bergen that was about 50% more for a drink than the UK, and a local club in Songdal that wasn't too expensive either.
Mmm I might have to show your email to the other half now, we may take our kids there next year!!
Yes we had some great weather when we were there. We went hiking up a mountain in glorious sunshine right into knee deep snow!!!
