Don't know - but it's a good fast route.  We've done Millau to Nevers for an overnight, and Nevers to St Omer for our last night without feeling that we'd driven too far.  There's a nice overnight municipal site in Nevers - just on the banks of the river, with good views, central for the town, and with a supermarket just a short drive away (good fuel prices too).  It's on terraces,  pitches are a good size although access can be a bit tight on some, and the sanitary blocks are good.

Hi there Val A - and sorry to butt in on this thread - but a question for Val who I know has been here as I have seen other postings - question about Le Ranc Davaine in Ardeche - silly little one but important to us - in the Alan Rogers guide it says no barbecues on pitch - OH shocked and stunned at prospect - is this the case or can you use a gas one ?(think I can just about persuade him to go this far)  Sorry again to hijack the thread ...

Lindsey

It's in the middle of a forest, but I have seen people using the Cadac type barbecue - and even the charcoal ones on some some pitches down by the river.   There are communal barbecue areas, and the none-use of barbecues may be better 'policed' in high season.

There are lots of sites which don't allow barbecues, particularly those in woodland or forest, and you can see why when you've seen the results of a forest fire.

If it's really important to your holiday, then I'd email the site, to make absolutely sure.  Sometimes Alan Rogers do 'get it wrong'.

Thank you - we have never been to a site which has not had a regular downpour every few days and hadn't quite thought it through - it is not the end of the world of course as we have a portable flat gas stove which could be on a table top left over from camping - I think the French do this - but I will contact the site.  Thank you again

Lindsey

From what I remember there are large communal BBQ's on site but you are not supposed to use Charcoal BBQ's on your pitch.
