Hi

Still contemplating our first 2-night stopover. Just costed Chateau des Marais and for pitch+kids+EHU it will be 100E

Does anyone know how much the municipal (Belle Vue) is roughly per night? also just how far is it from the Marais campsite?

If we were to stay at the municipal but visit our friends during the day would we get clobbered with visitor fees?

Christine

I think you could probably get away without paying visitor fees at Marais, with all the UK tour operators I think reception would just think you are another uk arrival. I know its an expensive site but theres lots to keep the kids amused but then again if you can get in without paying the visitors fee go for it.

Sorry cant help on the municipal

Dont know the ones you area asking about christine, but some of the best value and most interesting sites I have stayed on have been municipal, particularly in Portugal, so I would go for that every time

OMG!  That much??   It is a fabulous site - we have stayed there on several occasions and cannot fault it -  we went with French Life though and it certainly worked out cheaper  than that a night!

From my 2008 book the prices at Belle Vue are

Emplacement 2E; Adult 2,85E; Children between 2-7 1,20E; Elec 2,20E Animals 1,40E

Web Address perso.wanadoo.fr/mairie-muides/

We stayed at Chateau des Marais for the last two years and it is a fantastic site (this year went to Etang de la Breche after reviews on here but preferred Marais). It  is definately within walking distance from the municipal though if you chose to stay there.

Thanks walbassfan -

that make it approx 32E instead of 100E! will definitely try to persuade hubby to take a look at it before we commit to Marais - will all depend how long the journey has taken and whether we are too tired to hassle as Marais will be the easier option - but even if we paid the visitor fee for the one day that we are planning to be on site we'd be 35E better off.

Will even be an excuse to make use of our bikes - if its walking distance, it must be cycling distance LOL!

How late can you arrive at a municipal without a prior booking?

Christine

We stayed at Marais a few years ago and they wanted to charge rather a lot for our visitors. It is possible to avoid paying but it would be irresponsible of me to tell you how!!

The Caravan Club Travel Service brochure quotes a high season price of £28.01 per outfit plus £5.19 per child aged 13 - 17 for the site fees which includes 6 amp electricity.
