Hi having done the vendee for the past few years and loved it we would like to expand our horizons and go further south. Does any one have any suggestions please..ideally we would like a pool (our 6 and 3 yr olds would be broken hearted without one) and relatively near to a beach.. apart from that we are not too fussy.
MAny thanks
Nea

Nea,
How much further south are you looking at. I would recommend Le Soleil, Argeles-sur-mer which has a cracking pool and the site is right on the beach. Only downside is that Argeles is a canny hike but worth it in my opinion.

We're off to Royan.and we have a 5yrs and an 8yr to boot.
Zoo, beach, heated pool. What more can we ask for. Puits de l'Auture.
Alternatviely, we were looking at bicarrose, but it ws a little further to travel.

If you are going to travel really far south we found La nautique at Narbonne really good. Pool with waterslide, plenty of organised activities for kids and each pitch has its own toilet/shower/washbasin facilities. We had two girls aged 6 and 8 with us and they loved it there.

Hi Nea
Have a look at the site we are on http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=5298 Its in Frejus which is midway between Cannes & St Tropez. It has a large pool with sunbathing area's arround it,a childrens pool (Outdoor) with built in toys,it also has a heated indoor pool with slide, which is quite handy if you go early or late season and the weathers a bit iffy. There is loads to do on site for all ages.If you'd like any help just ask.

I think that it depends on your priorities. For me the most important thing is to have direct access to the beach, without having to cross any roads (preferably not too crowded beach). For this reason, we have chosen Le Boucanet www.campingboucanet.fr (Val provided an excellent review). We are going for the first time on the 22 August for 2 weeks. I find that it is a great bonus to be able to just go down to the beach without the worry of traffic etc - my kids are age 4, 6 and 9.
I know that it is quite a distance, the camp site is 25 km from Montpellier. Our plan is to drive to Dijon on the first day and then on to the camp site on the second
You may want to consider Norther Spain, many great camsites, and excellent beaches, only 3 hours more in the car
I will provide a review when we get back

hi nea
camping eurosol at st girons plage, its about an hour south of bordeaux, there is now 3 pools there.its a large site"but nothing like the haven type sites" you can walk to the beach about 500mtrs,the sea is very rough in this area great for surfing and bodyboarding, the lifeguards are crs police and take no messing about.on the beach there is a small super u and some lovely bars and restaurants all child friendly, the site do lots of activities for the children, its a forest site, with really good showers and loo,s.the site is mainly used by the dutch and french there was only 4 other brits on site, but the dutch all speak English so the young ones can always find some to play with,it really is a great site very relaxed and as yet not discovered by the brits.
ps for those with campers you can park almost on the beach there is carpark with ehu and water turn right at the roundabout think it was 10euro a night.
