I know there are loads of weather sites to look at, but never trust them 100%

So just wondering if it is summer in France this Aug? anyone just come back or still there?

We are off to Loire valley next week and really need some sun!!!!!, had the worst week ever in Cornwall week before last with gale force wind and rain.

I use Meteo France for a 48 hour forecast, available in English. Also the farming weather site http://www.pleinchamp.com/home.aspx#menu

We just got back from two weeks in Cevennes / Provence and had virtually no sun the second week - (this being an area of near guaranteed summer sunshine) , just cool and overcast as the Atlantic weather systems seemed to be pushing a northerly airstream down Eastern France.

Either way it's unlikely that it'll be any worse than in UK - I think we're due an indian summer soon!

best of luck.

Mzzy

My daughter is camping in the Dordogne this week (last week on the West coast hot with some rain) and she has been having hot weather with only one short spell of rain.  Not enough to stop them enjoying themselves, they are having a great time.  Hope you do too.

We had a month in Royan in the Vendee in June, we only had one day of rain, Most of the time is was sunny, some days some broken cloud but stil very warm.

We did notice when we headed north to come back that as on many occassions we picked up the cloud north of the Loire.

Have a good holiday

Hi,

We are at Quimper at the moment, just about to finish off the second week of an excellent holiday.

The weather has been "mixed", with a couple of days rain, with some brilliant days thrown in between.

Today has been excellent, 23 degrees in the afternoon, now no wind and a balmy evening, to sit out with a glass or two.

The weather is not as predicitable as the south, but Brittany is a really attractive area, which compensates no end.

Mr UM

Just back from Spther Brittany (Sunday) and sorry to say the weather was mixed, some sun but quite a bit of cloud and 3 days of rain in our tow weeks.  However it was much better than the weather here the cloud generally cleared and it was warm and bright.  I am so depressed since I got back with this miserable dark weather.  The reason we wnet to France was because our holiday in Cornwall and Dorset was a total wash out last year.  France was definately a big improvment on that just not the wall to wall sun we had hoped for.  Keep my fingers crossed for you.

Just had two weeks there, on the way down beginning August it was warm/hot everywhere, on the Provence coast (St Tropez etc) it was 30-35 all the time with little cloud and one storm. Coming back last weekend we had cloud and wind but hot however we'd only been driving a couple of hours and it was down to 20deg and raining!! this was the same spot that was 40deg the week before!!!!

Just think the more it rains before you go the more chance you have of Sun Sun Sun!

Deltaman - Royan in the Vendée??  Charente-Maritime surely!!

Anyway back yesterday from France.  JUly 15th - AUg 6th Dordogne near Beynac/Castelnaud very hot fabulous sunshine 42degrees some days 35-37 in shade one shower of rain!!! Coast at La Palmyre near Royan *8th Aug to 17th only 2 days fit to go on the beach - veey windy and not very warm really unless in sun and out of wind.  MOved to Le Mans 17 windy but some sun showers Calais 19-20 freezing by comparison - 17 degrees and violent winds and rain!! PS don't go to la Bien Assise at Guines - 30€ a night for two and very noisy trafic from 4 am!!!! what a rip off!!  Stayed at Le Vieux Moulin very near Le Mans two night s for the same money - abit of a tired site but nice and clean with good pitches 10amp electric standard a nd a beautiful setting close to the river - don't expect a pool though!!! it looked virtually derelict.. Good for shopping for home as enormous Auchan is 10 mins away with lots of chain eateries if you like that sort of thing (personally don't).

Whilst at La Palmyre talked with a French friend ahose daughter had been in the Dordogne for 9 days and it seems she was washed out!!! must have changed as we left.

www.meteo.fr for quite good forecasts up to 5 days in advance depending on the detail of the area you look at.
