Having got the camping bug, but being as hacked off with the British weather as the rest of you, can anyone recommend a good site in France.

Would like to go through the Euro Tunnel as I hate boats. Anyone stayed at any nice sites for pitching a tent? Preferably dog friendly but not essential.

Thanks in advance you crazy campers x

Hi I camped with my family in Brittany at Le Ty Nadan Campsite. It was a fair drive but a beautiful site and amazing facilities for the children whilst still retaining peaceful qualities. We'd definitely go back although we took the weather with us..... it rained!!!

Of course I can handle it...I have children

A few years ago I spent a bit of time on this site in Trelevern in Brittany when working for Eurocamp. It was one of my smaller sites and loved it, much prefering to the massive, busy and noisy 'family' site. There was a beach with gorgeous clear sea and really pretty rocky beach. There was a small pool, small eatery/ shop and play area.

Because it was a about 3 or 4 years ago the site may have changed, though a bit of updating wouldn't have gone a miss but looking at their website it looks like that has happened.

If you want good weather for certain you will have to drive a long way south or southwest from northern France, at least 500miles. I would do some research to pick an area of France that interests you & then ask advice on here for info on that specific area.

before you reject ferry travel compare prices! Eurotunnel is very expensive compared with the Dover/Calais or Dover/Dunkerque ferries which take less than 2hrs & are quite smooth even in rough conditions.

Sell my camper? I'd rather eat school semolina!
