For the last 4 years I driven across France to Northern Italy via the Mont Blanc Tunnel in our Chrysler Grand Voayager towing a trailer tent. I've just 'upgraded' to a Elddis Odyssey 505 caravan, which is obviously a lot longer and heavier. My question is whether going this route next summer towing the van is a sensible/viable option. My concern is the steepness of the hill, especially as there is often a queue on the tunnel approach requiring hill starts. I don't seem to recall seeing many caravans!
Thanks
Anthony

Hmm yes, I can remember that queue lol.  Well I don't know the spec of your car ie petrol or diesel, brake horse etc but surely it must be well matched enough to tackle most hills eh?  I seem to recall there were some laybys on the way up so maybe you can pull over if the queues are really bad.

Check the prices too, it was £25 odd just for a solo car 2 years ago.

2 yrs ago I did the same route as you. VW Sharan TDi towing an Elddis Wisp. No problem with the gradients although it pays to get to the tunnel early in the day to avoid any queues. I've now 'upgraded' to a VW Touran TDi towing a Coachman Amara. Lighter car, heavier van and it tows better! So I don't think your Voyager should have any problems. Just get there early!
