We are due to use the Chunnel service on Friday. I have made contact re revised schedules and they are running one train every two hours from 0600hrs until 2000hrs, which has thrown our plans right out.
We now intend to try and get to Folkestone for the 1600hrs crossing. I am conscious how bad the roads are on a Friday but was wondering if anyone has used the service in the last few days and how busy it was when they got there? I would really like to get to Calais by the weekend!
PS. We do not wish to use the ferry, we have a little dog who is travelling to France for the first time. Do not want him chucking up in the car
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
We have just returned from France, and used the Tunnel on Sunday 14th. We may have been lucky as we were expecting to be transferred to a ferry, but we actually crossed on the tunnel. We arrived at 17.00 hrs and asked what the situation was and was told they had a train running at 18.07 which had spaces. It took a little longer than usual to cross, about 50 mins compared to 35 which it usually is. So whether it was luck or perhaps the situation is not as bad as we think I dont know, but for us it was no problem.
Hi everyone, writing this from Provence. Arrived at the Tunnel to find it virtually empty, maybe the media footage is keeping people away! Had an uneventful and enjoyable crossing, just hope we have the same positive experience coming back!
