It's been announced that Norfolk Line are to take over the Rosyth routes which Superfast Ferries used to run up until a few months ago. Given that they are good value for the cross Channel service, it will be interesting to see if they manage to bring prices down on this route. Whenever I looked at the prices for Superfast, they always seemed really expensive. It would be good for us to have another option - being only an hour from Rosyth, it would be nice start to the hols.

Dover to Dunkerque with Norfolk Line has always been our 1st choice. Cheapest fares, nice clean uncrowded boats, decent well priced food etc. No matter what time you show up they just wave you on to the next boat with no extra charge. We have arrived in Dover 3 hours before our booking in what should be a peak price band and just been put on the next ferry. One December we showed up 2 days early due to my flu virus, I just wanted home and my own bed. No problem, no charge, just get on the next boat. Never had any delays with them either. If they give the same service from Rosyth you cant go wrong.
The piece on BBC Scotland said prices would be similar to the Superfast ones, so it does not sound promising as far as I can see. We priced it up last year and, with caravan and 2 people, it was about £1200 return, which did not compare well with £350 return from Hull.

Hull it is then, if they are going to be greedy about it, if they are then it's probably only going to be a matter of time before they close the route just like Blue Star Ferries. They said they were'nt making enough profit and this may be down to demand of potential tourists and at £1200 I'd rather bite the bullet and go to Hull for £350. You can have a lot of enjoyment with the £850 saving - less the additional fuel it takes to get you there of course.
Dover is out of the question for us but Hull isn't as bad but, I'd still rather go via the Rosyth route !!.
I believe the car + passengers prices were not bad, it is the caravan that was the killer, and no deals through the Clubs as far as I could find out.
They are not starting till April at least, so could be a while before prices are released. Only one ship to be used, crossing will take 19 hours.
It is indeed a pity if it is going to be so expensive, we too would love to use that crossing. Being retired, we have plenty of time, so it will be either Dover/Dunkirk or Hull/Rotterdam for us next March it seems.
