We do Calais to the Vendee and stay over at the municipal site at Beaumont sur sarthe just north of Le Mans (see campsite search for plenty of reviews).  It's about 250 miles from Calais so prob add another 30 on for Dunquerque.  It depends on the time of your crossing but we cross with the tunnel about 8am and arrive at this site about 4.30pm (french time) with 2 or 3 stops on the way (we're towing so only doing 60mph max).  It's only about 170 miles to the vendee coast the next day.

Whats your time scale, what time will you be arriving in Dunkerque & how far do you want to drive before you stop?

Another vote for the municipal at Beaumont-sur-Sarthe - or another municipal slightly farther South at the nice town of La Fleche (between Le Mans and Angers) http://www.ville-lafleche.fr/portal/TourismeEconomie/CampingMunicipal/tabid/933/Default.aspx .

On the way home theres yet another municipal farther North in Normandy, about 10m off the A28 at Vimoutiers (just South of Lisieux) http://www.mairie-vimoutiers.fr/html/tourisme.php .

we usually stop st camping deSt Claire at neufchatel en bray - a very pleasant site about 100 miles from calais/dunkerque etc (info in caravan club  caravan europe book).  this makes a goood stopping place for anybody travelling from north of england or north wales & travelling down to Dover afternoon /eveningto catch  eg 5 am boat in which case 100 miles in france is enough after near 400 in england. Following a nice restful day  the trip down to vendee is  an easy days run.

We always stop here. Very nice site in a small village. Boulangerie etc within walking distance, and cheap - €12 a night for a full service pitch!   10 mins from the A28 motorway too.

Camping Le Vieux Moulin At Neuville sur Sarthe, about 7kms north of Le Mans - around 280 from Dunkerque.  PLeasnt place cheap - we paid €31 fro two nights last summer on our way home.  Clean toilets etc but the 'pool' looked a bit sad!!

Beautiful location.
