I was reading a thread about fishing in France it was a place called Lac Les Vieille Forges, does anybody know if there is a campsite nearby and what are the facilities?

Hi.

It was me that posted the reply about the lake.

There is a campsite opposite of the same name. The lake has a lovely sandy beach with activities for the kids plus non waterised watersports. The fishing is good and the scenery stunning.

Another in the same region is Camping Lac De Bairon with the campsite right at the lakeside with beach etc.

Yes I have fished it several times however, I have not been with my family and have bivvied up on the banks. I got to use the shower facilities at the entrance to the campsite and they were excellent.

Lac de Bairon is also nice and I have stayed on site there. Again showers etc spotless and in a lovely location.

Big is relevant when talking Carp fishing, I am after fish to over 70lb in France at the moment and have had many Carp throughout my life in excess of 30lb.

Each to there own I suppose, my kids are / were happy catching tiddlers and myself also whilst on family holidays.

I know of quite a few more in different regions of France if interested.

Yes defo interested. OH has been fishing in France for the past couple of years and his biggest was a 39lb common, I go with him although I am not too good on the fishing my biggest is only 14lb.  We normally go without the kids but next year we would like to combine the fishing with camping and take the boys, so we need somewhere where hubby can go fishing and me and the boys can relax preferably near a beach and possibly the kids can go fishing too as the eldest one is now getting into fishing and they have their own rods etc.

Lac De Jaunay in the Vendee is a good site with a beach / direct access to the lake etc.

Parc De Fierbois in the Loire Valley is a popular site with fish to 40 plus. Lac De Jaunay is a bit of an enigma with regards to fish size, We camped there for 21 nights many years ago for no Carp, I then visited on my own for a couple of nights on my way back from the south and had 7 fish between 20 and 36lb. In the same region is a lake called Apremont with fish to 60 plus.

There are also plenty of camping opportunities near rivers in France with beaches and great fishing.
